Anyone with a child starting The Priory C OF E/Merton Park reception in Sept??

Hi there !
My 4 year old twins are due to start reception in September. This will either be at The Priory in Wimbledon, or Merton Park Primary, depending on what we get offered.
I'd love to meet other mums with children starting one of these schools, for friendship, meet-ups, coffee, socialising etc.....
We love soft play, parks, theme parks, arts and crafts, farms etc.....
Mummy loves theatre, the arts, cinema, bars, cocktails, Hotel Chocolat... mmm..

I'd also love a dieting buddy for mutual support and encouragement, as currently a very cuddly mummy!!!

Not starting at either - just curious how you are placed to get either of these schools. They are so far away from each other you must surely be out of both catchment areas.

Don't mean to sound unfriendly, but how do you know where they are going? Don't the results come out next week?
My 4 year old will be starting in Sept, but not at either of these.

Amazingly we are right in the middle, and actually in the catchment area for both!! Twins are already attending nursery at one of the schools, but it's the one furthest away from us, so we may need to re-locate.
True - I don't know if we'll be offered school places, but certainly had offers for both nursery schools (plus Poplar).

I'm also astonished that you could be in an area where you could get into either of these two schools, unless you go to Church. Schools don't have 'catchment areas' (except priority ones like Wimbledon Chase). Do you mean Poplar or Pelham School, rather than the Priory?

The distance for Merton Park last year for a child without a sibling was 150m. This was in the first round and later went up to around 200m. This year there are about 20 siblings going for reception places so that leaves 10 places for first born children.

I agree with the others that maybe you should wait for the allocations to come out.

I am situated exactly between the two - we got offered Benedict primary in Mitcham - which we turned down. I may be wrong - but as a veteran of the system - I would have a back up plan if I were you.

Ok, this year might be a little different going by our offer. What did you get OP?

Another one here who is boggling at the ability to be close enough to both schools to be in catchment.

OP - I see from your post on the Priory thread in 'primary education' that you didn't get a place there in the end. Just wondering if you managed to get Merton Park instead? I have heard that admissions where really tight this year at a number of schools. In previous years the CofE schools have not filled all the foundation places but it looks as though now they are - was that your experience at The Priory. I've also heard horror stories of siblings not getting in this year!

Anyone attending bishop gilpin? Is it good?
