New to Tunbridge Wells - keeping a pre-schooler busy?!

Hi there, I posted here before moving and some of you have kindly pointed me in the right direction with everything from schools to dentists!

We moved to TW just before Christmas and are slowly finding our feet, the boxes are depleting and DD has started nursery.

We've been going to various activities trying to find ones that suit us both but have had a few false starts - often regarding location (I cant drive).

Has anyone got any ideas for pre-schoolers in TW? DD turned 4 in October and is at pre school a mix of mornings and afternoons, but we both need other things to keep us busy (and friends!).

We tried the St Johns playgroup this morning, but I think she is too old for playgroups really and church playgroups seems to be the main activity here? We're trying tumble tots this week and have signed up for a trial gymnastics session up at Noth Farm soon.

We're used to lots of playdates and meeting friends in parks etc - I know it will take a while to build up a new network, but any tips would be greatly appreciated from a newbie!

Swimming, soft play area, inviting parent and child for lunch after preschool, ballet, children's centre, music groups. Once it gets a bit warmer maybe see if you can organise a group of mums to take picnic to playground after preschool.

There is lots going on, but it takes a while to get a few friends.

I think just building up a network via pre-school is the best way forward. I met two or three of my mum friends that way and you will certainly meet other parents once your child starts school.

I am also new to the area (Paddock Wood) and have a daughter who turned 4 in December. Though I don't work right now, I have her in nursery four days a week in preparation for school in September. However, we are also used to lots of playdates and it is taking time to find our feet and make new friends (both of us!). Luckily, I can drive, so would love to meet you some time - maybe a park date?

Hiya newbie, that sounds like a lovely idea. There are lots of lovely parks around as Im sure youve seen. The Grove Park in town is nice (and nr much needed coffee). Do you want to PM me and we could sort something out? We are slowly finding our feet and its gradually starting to feel more like home here now which is great.
