Hi all
Anyone know what Brunstane primary is like?
What about St.John's? I heard it was in bad repair - a lot of kids have transferred fron St.John's - why's that?
How about out of catchment requesta in this area for Parsons Green or Duddingston in light of smaller class sizes?

Any thoughts?

St John's is an old school in good repair where a LOT of pupils have transferred INTO not OUT. No idea what Brunstane is like...

It's been a while since my kids were at St Johns but I found it very good.
Although a catholic school it did take children from other denominations
It was a victim of it's own success in that far more families wanted to send their kids there than it could hold so huts were needed.
Come P7 there were always a few transferred out to go to private school as their parents wanted them educated in private secondaries but were happy to use St Johns for primary education

Don't forget you can also apply to the Edinburgh Gaelic School, currently at Tollcross Primary but moving in due course to a dedicated site at the old Bonnington Primary. Children are taught in Gaelic but parents don't need any of the language themselves. Studies have shown that kids develop better when they grow up with 2 or more languages. Another bonus is that kids move to Gillespie's when they go on to secondary. My kids went to the Gaelic school and I have no hesitation in recommending it (I work in further education myself). T
