Help With Selecting A School Which Offers Extra Support For Dyslexia

Hello!!

As you know we are relocating to the Cheltenham area. Our 8 year old son has dyslexia and receives great help and support at his current school. We want to, hopefully, enrol our 2 kids into a school which can offer him much the same. Has anyone got any advice for me on which schools have got excellent learning support. We like Cirencester, Stroud or inbetween. I will also be looking at tutor options for out with school hours. Can anyone recommend one or an educational club which we can take him too?

Possibly not what you are looking for at all, but I believe that Airthrie School (private school in Cheltenham) has specific expertise in dyslexia. It is linked to a trust which specialises in Dyslexia and this provides expertise to the school.

The school website is a bit coy about this - perhaps not wanting to be labelled 'a school for dyslexics'. The Ofsted report is a bit more informative and I am sure that the school could provide more details if you contacted them.

I know of it because a child from DD's class transferred there last year - not because DD's school did not provide decent support for dyslexia but because this child's parents decided that she could benefit from the specific extra expertise available.
