Anyone fancy a Mid Essex meet up?

TsaMidEssex · 30/06/2011 22:04

I know that there are quite a few Mid Essex MNers around, but so far we've struggled to meet up.

I was wondering if anybody fancies meeting for a picnic in Central Park in Chelmsford?

We could do a weekday, or a weekend depending on what suits everyone best. It would be lovely if we could arrange it during the summer holiday - which is not far off now.

I'd be bringing my 7yo DD and 3yo DS.

Please let me know what you think.

Doh... 25th or 27th July - don't know where I got 29th from.Sorry.

Of those two dates I'd prefer the 27th as I need to pop into work that day anyhow

TsaMidEssex · 18/07/2011 10:11

Following on from everyone's posts, details for the meet up are as follows:
Wednesday 27th July
12pm - 2:45pm
Meet near the children's play equipment.
Bring your own picnic.
You'll be able to spot me by my attractive red tartan picnic blanket Grin.

Don't feel you have to stay for the whole afternoon - just pop by and say hello if you get the chance. I'll be there for the whole time.
Please share any ideas you have for the meet up, some meet ups use name labels/coloured clothes etc.etc. but that might be a little ambitious for what seems likely to be a fairly small meet.

Assuming everything goes well, we'll try for another session at the end of the summer - perhaps on a weekend?

We'll be there.
Might be a little late while I wander round trying to find the children's play equipment area! Grin

If it all goes well can I suggest a meet up at Maldon Prom/splash park/pirate boat later in the summer for the next meet up?

TsaMidEssex · 18/07/2011 10:42

I like the Maldon idea Grin.

gillybean2 · 19/07/2011 19:04

So seems like it might just be you and me...
Anyone else going to join us?!

TsaMidEssex · 19/07/2011 22:30

Not that I've heard from yet.

I'm off to do some bumping.

Post 12 noon isn?t really best for us, 10am into lunchtime would be far better as that fits into DS?s current sleep cycle. Give it 6 months and possibly that will change as he seems to be shortening his naps more regularly now.

There are additional complications for us anyway; my DW has damaged tendons in both her feet and an active 2 yr old DS already pushes her feet to their limit. Central park is quite a bit of a trek from the nearest car park that is likely to have spaces on a workday (and I'm not available to her to act as DS chaser/chauffeur on a weekday).

I?d still go for it as planned if I was you ? Mid Essex has been so quiet that in the past I?ve only been checking the forum on a monthly basis. It?s going to take some time to build the traffic back up.

TsaMidEssex · 22/07/2011 16:27

liamsdaddy - thanks for your points.

What I wanted to do is get something arranged quickly - just as a start point. I know how easy it is for time to pass while trying to arrange the 'perfect' event.

gillybean has suggested a meet in Maldon at the end of the summer, so perhaps we'll be able to have a rolling series of events lined up at different times/venues to include as many families as possible. If you have the idea for a meet up (time/place etc) - let me know and I can try and make sure it happens.

As you say - it's going to take time.

TsaRina - you are doing great Smile

I know how frustrating it can be to organise something and for only one or two people to come along.

Quite a few of our friends favour Hylands House as a good place to meet up - we have not tried it yet.

TheSnickeringFox · 22/07/2011 23:17

Hi all, yes we can do the 27th. Thanks to gilly for the reminder to look at this thread!

I will bring cake :)

TsaMidEssex · 23/07/2011 00:08

I love Hylands House (fond memories), so will add it to the (rather short) list.

Glad you can make it TheSnickeringFox - cake sounds very good Grin.

Hello, I can't do the 27th because I don't finish work until 2.30 & then I need to drive to Bicknacre & South woodham ferrers before I could drive back to Chelmsford!!

Keep me informed if you arrange a weekend meet up though!3

Thanks for the reminder message Tsa.

TsaMidEssex · 23/07/2011 18:48

No problem - I hope we get to meet next time Smile.

We're still on track to be there. Have PM you as am wondering who I should ask for when approaching random starngers on tartan picnic blankets.

Also wondering if there are any alternative plans should the weather not be favourable to picnicing!?

TsaMidEssex · 26/07/2011 19:16

Hi Gillybean2 - I've sent you a PM.

I think the back up plan will be to still meet in the park at noon - but retire to a cafe if the weather is diabolical.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Hello, Fox here under my new name

I'm afraid things are not looking good for tomorrow here - ds has a temp and I think he's coming down with the lurgy :(

TsaMidEssex · 26/07/2011 22:05

That's a shame Sad. I hope your DS feels better soon.

Just got back from my first ever MN meet up. It was a very, very mini meet up but still fun. Even the weather was kind Grin.

Gilly, my DS thinks your DS is fab - he was so kind and tolerant. It was lovely to meet you too.

OP posts:
Bohica · 27/07/2011 20:37

Glad the mini meet up went well, I did think of you today!

TsaMidEssex · 27/07/2011 21:16

How is your DS today Bohica? Feeling any better?

OP posts:
Bohica · 27/07/2011 21:37

That was Fox's son that is unwell, I have 3 unruly lovely girls.

TsaMidEssex · 27/07/2011 21:41

Oops - sorry Blush. Brain not in gear after falling asleep during bedtime settling.

gillybean2 · 28/07/2011 08:29

Hiya

We had a lovely time, thanks so much for organising it.
And thank you for your kind comments about ds, I have past them on to him. He can be a star sometimes with little ones and he loves having company.

Your LO is lovely too. I hope dd enjoyed her pamper day and maybe we'll get to meet her next time.

Do you think it's too soon to organise something for the end of the school hols? Are people busy on the bank holiday weekend or would that be an option possibly?

TsaMidEssex · 28/07/2011 18:28

I'm away on the Bank Holiday weekend - but we can still organise something if it's a popular choice.

Think I'll start a new thread and link to it here.
