Hi Everyone

Can anyone recommend a few child-friendly eateries within the borough for weekend lunches and snacks? Having just moved to Richmond, we're a bit lost for places to take a fussy 4-year-old who likes to run about!

Many thanks

All the pizza chains (Pizza Express, Ask etc) are good, Kew Gardens has lots of running about space and good (but pricy) food, the Inn at Kew Gardens in Sandycombe Road is pretty spacious, Ma Cuisine in Kew does free kids food at the weekend, Giraffe & Cote in Richmond are good.

Torelli (sp) coffee shop in Kew village is quite child freindly (has a little den with a few manky toys) and does the best coffee around here. Kew gardens always a failsafe! But yes a bit pricey.

I didn;t know ma cuisine does free childrens food?!

The White Horse pub at the bottom of the Alberts in Richmond does good gastro-pub food (chunky chips and things that small people might eat) and there's a nice playground next door with a connecting gate from the pub garden where a 4yo can run about.

Tbh Pizza Express and co do not have suitable running about space so pubs with gardens probably your best bet. The Marlborough on Richmond hill is good (but pricey) and Hare & Hounds in East Sheen. They both do BBQs in the summer.

Carluccios has a bit at the back where we try to go with unruly toddler because we're a bit more out the way then. Ds likes it there.

Petersham nursery tea house does good tea and cake but is £££ and sometimes the cake is a little worthy IMO (rhurbarb and polenta type things) but if you're early enough you might get a brownie or a piece of Victoria Sponge.

The cafe at Duke Street Church is very child friendly. Lots of space.

I'm planning on trying Stein's (on towpath just after Tide Tables) out with DD on sunny days this summer - IIRC they have an enclosed play area.

And if you fancy venturing across the river, the Karmarama cafe at the Stables Gallery (Orleans House) is lovely. The outside tables are in a big courtyard - it's not enclosed so you'd have to keep a close eye on your DC but offers scope for plenty of running around without getting in other people's way. NB not open on Mondays or Tuesdays.
