primary school advice

Hi
I'm a Mum with 3 girls ranging from 8, 6 and 4 years old. Currently living in Paris and planning to move to Twickenham/Teddington/Hampton area this June. We're going to be making late applications for schools which may mean our girls being split up. Our eldest girl is extremely sensitive and has experienced learning difficulties due to dyslexia, and learning at a strict French school. It's complicated we know, but does any one have any advice about schools in the area that are particularly nurturing for an insecure, but extremely kind and likeable child? (who is also bilingual English/French!)
Any advice welcome!

The primary schools in your area are all good and im sure once you have spoken to them regarding your eldest they will be sympathetic to yours and her needs. We moved to the area when schools had been allocated so we sent our eldest to Twickenham prep which is in Hampton. The pastoral care is great and he has since been diagnosed with Dyslexsia. They have been nothing but supportive especially as he was incredibly awear of his age hes a summer baby.

Im sure you will get a great school that will suit your needs. I have always heard reaaly possitive.

orleans primary st margarets twickenham
st marys primary twickenham

Good luck

hi rainbowmagic. Thanks for your advice. Negotiating the school system is a rather nerve racking experience but at least it seems there are a lot of good schools in the area!
Thanks again

have a think about secondary schools when choosing your primary/ or area if you intend to go state rather than private.

you have 3 girls and waldegrave is outstanding but check the criteria. i think it is distance, so hampton would be too far out.

orleans is good, but has tight linked schools.

all the primaries are good, it's the secondaries you need to carefully take into account.

do you have any religious links? St J's (catholic) has a lot of french/spanish/italian bilingual kids.

Hi - that's interesting. They're in a Catholic school at the mo. so I'll investigate St J's. Thanks for the tip re-secondaries - we're definitely keeping it in mind.
Have a good weekend!

Hi walkietalkie

If you children are catholic there is also Sacred Heart Primary in Teddington which is one form entry. It currently has a link to Teddington School too.

My DD goes there and very happy.

All Richmond Borough parents need to be aware that the council is looking to make some significant changes to Secondary Schools over the coming years, which could impact existing schools, so check out the thread: "New Secondaries for Richmond Borough" and join the debate. The council will hopefully listen to parents' views, but we can only engage in the process if we know what's going on.
