Advice on nurseries and prep + preprep schools in Putney

I am moving to Putney next month and am having small crisis about nurseries and schools for my DS. Can anyone advise on Lion House as a nursery and pre-prep? I like the sound of it, but don't understand why it's not in The Good Schools Guide. Also, any thoughts on whether there are any benefits to a nursery school for ages 2 - 5 eg Busy Bee etc versus ones that go from 3 months upwards like Gwendolen House. Thanks - all thoughts generally about Putney schools and nurseries very welcome!

Forgot to add - if anyone can shed light on the relative merits of Preps versus Pre-preps, I would greatly appreciate it. If I wanted to aim for Colet Court for example, should I be looking at pre-preps? I don't even know if my DS (aged 16 months) is even going to be academic, which makes it all seem so crazy!

My DD is at the nursery at Lion House and we are very happy with it. Small, kind and happy. DS will go next year as well. DD probably won't stay for pre-prep but everyone I know who does is also very happy with it. (Lots only stay for nursery as well).
Not sure why it isn't in the Good Schools Guide- suspect it's because they don't send an entry in..?
I would say that a nursery school is more like a school than daycare nurseries like Gwendolyn House etc who will have some children there from 7am to 7pm, 52 weeks a year. Busy Bees, Lion House etc all have terms, half terms etc. Depends on whether you work etc really as to what is best for you.
As to other schools in Putney there is a long thread from a while ago on it- be warned though, everyone has widely differing views! If you do a search on 'Putney schools' it should come up.
Lion House have an open day in May I think.
There are also good state schools of course.

Sorry- I didn't really reply to the second message but it's all a bit of a minefield really and I'm trying not to think about DS at the moment having agonised about DD! Places like Colet Court do take boys at 11 but I think they take far more at 7 and 8 so a pre-prep is probably better if that's what your definitely aiming for. However lots of schools now take boys up to 11 and they all seem to find schools that they're happy with. I think Colet Court specifically look out for able state educated boys at 11 too.
I think it's better to be a bit relaxed about the whole thing. I do know people who are determined from the day their children are born that they will go to certain schools and when it doesn't happen they blame everyone rather than just accepting that maybe it wasn't the right school for their child.

Thank you tvfriend. All very helpful. Maybe if things work out then both of our DS' will be there together! I will continue my search but try to remain calm and relaxed!
