Editing guidebook for kids to Oxford - any recommended resources?

Hello!

I'm editing a children's guidebook to Oxford & the Cotswolds, due for release later this year (it's for kids aged 7-11). I'm fairly sure the author's already included most of the main things kids love doing in the area, but I wanted to know if there are any great local online resources that I should cross-check before the book goes to print to make sure we've included everything.

Thanks so much!

Not online, but there is a tremendously informative guide written by local parents called "Oxford for the under-8s" which is widely available: www.new-parent-network.info/publications.html

There is bound to be some overlap with your target age group.

Awesome! That's great. I'll definitely check it out - I've just looked at their website and they look really interesting! Great tip, thanks.

Hi, what's the name of the book? Would certainly be interested. (this thread may be pulled as it sounds a bit like advertising, just to warn you).

Oh right - yes I didn't think about that! In which case I won't say what it's called but I'll see if they can put up a classified ad here when it's launched and I hope that you'll see it in oxford shops sometime later this year! :)

Can you PM me with the title please?

What type of things are you looking for? Daily Info may be worth a look, particularly in the children's section of "What's On" as this may produce some ideas.

My DD is 8 and we go/do the following things:

Oxford Science Museum
Museum of Oxford, particularly when they have arty projects on (in half term, DD and I went to make a Tudor peg doll and a Tudor ruff and she got to try on some Tudor costumes)

Snakes and Ladders in Abingdon (a great softplay venue)
Bowlplex, Kassam Oxford
Vue and Ozone Kids Film Screenings on Saturday morning
Hinksey Outdoor Swimming Pool (open May till September), big swimming pool and fountain area, plus lake and tennis
Abbey Meadows (outdoor swimming pool, big park, crazy golf, river etc
Ashmoleon museum

Hope that helps!
