Dont have an answer to your question but wondering about bounce and rhyme. Do you think a 3 month old would enjoy it? He gets bored easily but at least he couldn't run around lol.

giggly · 03/02/2011 22:42

ryansmum, I took dd#1 from 12 weeks she seemed happy enough, and it meant by the time she was older I knew all the words to all the songs Wink.

I stopped going when she was about 1 1/2 I think. Sadly I havent managed to get in gear with dd#2

ryansmum1 · 04/02/2011 10:19

Thanks giggly. Just need to master getting out in time in the morning or find a nearby afternoon

giggly · 04/02/2011 23:42

The only one I know the time of is the one in Whiteinch library, Thurs at 1.30

giraffescantdirtydance · 04/02/2011 23:51

jurassic jungle is free for under 18mo :)

giraffescantdirtydance · 04/02/2011 23:51

ryansmum - where in glasgow are you?

Stac2011 · 04/02/2011 23:58

what one did you go to mummy03?

Ryansmum i took dd from bout 12wks, the glasgow libraries website tells you various locations

Giraffes whats jurassic jungle and where is it?

Hi giggly Smile didnt want to be rude lol

giraffescantdirtydance · 05/02/2011 09:44

its a soft play its in maryhill. comfy sofas and a cafe. the little ones play frame is well away from big ones so no need to worry about them getting trampled and if you go in day time mainly smaller ones, especially morning as majority of 3/4yr olds are nursery then. I take 16mo in afternoons and its still fairly quiet then.

giraffescantdirtydance · 05/02/2011 09:44

also have you been to garscube play rooms?

Stac2011 · 07/02/2011 13:59

that sounds good but dd is 7months so may be too small just now. Whats the play rooms?

ryansmum1 · 07/02/2011 20:16

Giraffescantdirttdance I'm in Baillieston so will try the local library first if I can get out in time or could go to the bridge in easterhouse but don't know when that ones on.

MummyO3 · 11/02/2011 00:45

so sorry i forgot about this Blush

i went to the one in castlemilk, and i think it appears to be aimed at 3+

it was an afternoon one 1:30 on a wed, i thought my dd who is 2 1/2 would have loved it but nope lol, there was a little boy there that was about (no more than) 6months, and he kinda looked bewildered, but a little girl about 3 1/2 loved it

Went to jurassic jungle today following the mention in this thread. I would not recommend it at all. The facilities were pretty poor with most of the room being taken up with seating for the cafe. Only one tiny play area for under 3s and it wasn't suitable for my 18 month old as she was really too young for the climbing frame/slide which made up most of it and just got bashed out of the way for the older kids who were circuiting it- many of whom were 5/6 so shouldn't have been in that bit, but there was no-one to tell them to move.

Also- far too crowded, they should have limited the numbers, it was pretty chaotic.

Don't know how this compares to other soft play centres as I haven't been to any, but I wouldn't be rushing to try any others following this experience.

MummyO3 · 13/02/2011 21:39

oh sorry to hear your experience cocobongo
i was reading reviews on a softplay which sounds fab, out at cumbernauld - quite a drive for us, but seems to be worth it,
www.theadventureplanet.com/default.html
a link if you are interested, also geronimos is not to bad, better during the day not great with supervision, but if you let them know there is older kids in the young kids section then they will be removed. food is not to bad too, and from softplays i have been to its the biggest baby section i have seen,
i would say though that adventure planet seems much much better, i look forward to going :) supervision is ment to be fab, and all kids are measured and have colour coded bands on so they stay in their own section so other kids dont get harmed :)
would love to hear reviews from any MN's if they have been :)

should also add the one in thornliebank isnt any good. their younger bit is pathetic, and my son (4 at the time) disappeared i removed my eyes for 2mins while dealing with dd, and when i alerted staff they were less than helpful Angry i ended up searching the place for him how i moved about in it i dont know lol, but i eventually found him while the staff where still looking dumbfounded. i also went for a job there (before this happened) and they offered me a bank staff position as they didnt need permant staff, i was never once asked to fill any form, asked about convictions, or a background check done. they phoned and asked me to do a shift and i stated i hadnt filled anything out etc they said there was no need Hmm i refused to work there and reported them for it.

Yes the Cumbernauld one is great. Big sections and separated well. Keeps my 3 and 1 year old well entertained and the food is fine.

MummyO3 · 14/02/2011 21:11

thank you greedychops :)

hello mummy03, Sorry to hear Bounce and rhyme wasnt such a positive experience for you.
Bounce and rhyme is aimed at 0-3 years and different groups have different dynamics, but a baby is never too young for bounce and rhyme. it is true that often the first time at bounce and rhyme there is a lot of stimulation/other children/ a new and interesting space and this can lead to the more mobile children finding it difficult to concentrate.i would encourage you to persavere (sp!) as it is the repetative nature of the songs and rythyms which will build up familiarity and in turn concentration skills. if older children spend a while in the library before bounce and rhyme this may help as they will have had time to explore before the session starts. A lot of Parents have also said that sometimes their children seem disinterested and distracted during B + R but then sing the songs in the bath/buggy on the way home!

I hope you find a bounce and rhyme which you enjoy as I see the children benefit greatly from the sessions as the weeks progress:) x

I have been to adventure planet and it is excellent. It is really quite far from me but a family member lives in Cumbernauld and was having his birthday party there.

I have never been to a soft play that has such supervision in it. Dd3 bumped herself coming down a slide and staff member was straight up at her. 5 mins later another staff member asked if she was ok.

I don't know how much it is to get in etc. but have a sneaky suspicion it is expensive. Though you wouldn't expect that level of supervision to be cheap.

Someone at the party ordered samosa's, pakora's etc. and they were lovely.

I would recommend it.
