where to stay in Worthing?

my aged Dad is determined to have one last holiday in worthing (his parents lived here for many years and are buried here along with his siblings) and has offered to pay for us to accompany him. Have sent for the brochure but there is hardly anything in compared to what there used to be- very little self catering.

Does any know of decent places to stay or have cottage to rent etc in worthing itself? Looking for hotels/b&b for Pa and pref. self catering for me, dh and two nippers.

Thanks al- hope you can help as this means a lot to us- Dad is nearly 90 and I am aware this is his last chance to visit Durrington cemetery and leave flowers etc. He is very emotional just thinking about it and I want to make it happen

hotels are quite expensive, but there is a travellodge on the front and they are doing their deals at the moment - if you book far enough in advance you can get money off certain venues - don't know if worthing is included - but its bang on the seafront and as cheap as your going to get.

with regards to self catering - would you consider a caravan maybe? i haven't got personal experience of any sites - so i can't recommend any , but i know that we have a few and it might be an option with regards your own freedom and self catering.

The kingsway hotel on marine parade is quite cheap and right oposite the beach. It is more friendly than the travel lodge with the added bonus that it doesn't have all the steps up to the front of it that the travel lodge has.

most caravan sites well out of town...

hotels in Worthing can be more reasonable if you shop around - fr our wedding most people stayed at seafront ones.

Right; all fixed up now. Worthing 'beach apartment' for us and Ardington hotel for Pa who deserves a bit of luxury.

Now then...where's good to eat? As a child we always went to Silverthorns chippy (back in the 70's) and then to Roberts bar (no longer there)

cheers all. I haven't been to Worthing for nearly 20 years and will no doubt be squawking on about how it's changed

wonderful italian just opposite the pier called cassa ciro

their pronto pasta is only £5for lunch..

Ask has been a bit variable - though nice surroundings.

There is 'The Fish Factory' on the road in just a bit further toward town from The Aquarena (opposite GA Browns grocers/flowers) - a trifle bland IMO - but its fish and chips!

there is still a chippy with seats or two on the seafront near the Dome and opposite the pier.
