Nursery fees & Childminder question...

Have just found out the fees for my dd1's nursery have gone up again for next year - they've increased by approx 13% in the last two years (6.5% each year)... it's an excellent nursery and dd1 is v happy there but my & dh's salaries certainly haven't gone up by 13% in the same time!

Would be interested to know what others pay per day to see if they're competitive, haven't 'shopped around' since she started. Our new daily rate for over 2's is £41.50...

Am starting to wonder if a childminder would be better value, esp since my dd2 will need childcare from April as well - anyone know roughly what the going rate is in Edinburgh?

Thanks for your help Xmas Smile

Hi Bumble75 my childminder charges 5£ per hour (and it doesn't include lunch) and she will review the price in July 2011.

Hi Bumble my childminder charged me £20 per day and this included food, activities etc.

Tam 20£?! That's very good price. Can i have your cm? :)

Tambasher · 09/12/2010 21:06

My DC won't be needing her anymore, she is very good, takes them out places, she is very hands on and always seems to calm.

I am just outside Edinburgh I think City Centre prices can be more expensive.

My childminder is moving, I am thinking of having a go myself. :) I would take £20 per day too but as I say I am just outside, so a bit of a treck for you!!

Oh, thank you so much Tamb! But we live and work in the city centre, so it's not practical as you can imagine :)

Tamb, that's a great price, just how far out of Edin are you Wink.

Looks like there's as much variation in cm charges as nurseries...

I need to contact the Council and do whatever is necessary.
