Any recommendations for swimming lessons?

We're moving to Edinburgh in January and I'm keen to sort out swimming lessons for DD (23m) as soon as possible.

She's been swimming weekly since about 8wks and absolutely loves it, so I'd like to keep that going.

We're flexible on time and location so I just want to find a teacher/class that others recommend - would really appreciate any suggestions.

Hi tiokiko,

My kids who are slightly older than your daughter take private swimming lessons at Drumbrae Leisure. It is a public swimming pool (one of the better ones) and the teachers are really nice. If you did want to join a private club, David Lloyd is very good and cater well for families. I believe their lessons are excellent too.
Hope this helps

Great, thanks photomama.

What are the other public pools like? I remember them from when I was wee but guess everything is different now. I know the commie pool is (still...) closed but don't know about the rest.

There's Ainslie baths and Leith Water World but I havent used either of them for a while. Apparantly Wester Hailes pool is excellent for kids but its further away from me.

Water world has a friday morning lesson for toddlers and parents. It's not a pool for serious swimming, but good for toddlers as it's so warm (!) and there are waves and flumes. It's only open Fridays and weekends, except during the school holidays.

You could also google aquatic learning, an Edinburgh based couple that organise swimming classes from 2yrs+ all over Edinburgh.
I highly recommend them as my DD was pretty timid of water up until 5/6, she's been going to regular swimming lessons for the last 18 months and now she can swim a full 25M length.
Have a look at the website and see if it's the kind of thing you are after.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, really helpful. Waterworld sounds fun; I heard from a FOF that Ainslie is nice too.

Highndry - hadn't heard of Aquatic Learning before but have googled as suggested. Sounds good but says they start from 2.5yrs so maybe one to look into once we are settled.

Thanks again, really appreciate the pointers.
