can anyone recommend one?

Dd is 3.3yo and is always asking to go "ballet dancing". It will have to be a weekend class though...

thanks

where abouts do you live? i started dancing when i was three and i still do it now. it is great for discipline and really good fun. best to start young in my opinion, even if you dont become a prima ballerina!

I started at 3 and went all the way through primary school and mostly loved it.

anywhere in Edinburgh would suit us -centre or south would be best.

Hi

Can anyone advise whether Manor School of Ballet or Morningside Dance Academy are good for 3 year olds wanting to start ballet on the Edinburgh South area?

Have started with Angela Watson across in Colinton, but logistics are a bit tricky and would prefer to stay local but have heard nothing about either of the 2 ballet schools.

Looking for something light rather as very rigid and serious...

Thanks for this. My concern was Manor would be too formal for DD - don't really see her doing ballet past P1 or 2 at the most tbh.

Started with Angela Watson due to recommendations from others in her classes and can say she certainly seems good and DD loves it.

Will see if anyone posts on Morningside Dance Academy.

Hi,
My dd goes to Morningside Dance Academy. She started at 5, so a little older than your dd, but she does really enjoy it, and has a very nice teacher. I'm pretty certain you can try two classes initially before signing up (& buying the uniform!).

There's another dance place on the southside, Dance for all, which is at St Columba's Church Hall on Upper Gray Street.

MeepersCreepers · 29/10/2010 06:19

I have just had an email from Morningside Dance Academy - and yes you can try 2 classes (for a registration fee of £15) before committing to a full term

Traveller - who is her teacher - there seem to be 2 different venues?

DD has lessons with Laura Proudfoot - she seems really nice.

Btw,would second what others have said about Dance Base - if you want to try dance classes without committing to a term's classes, then the drop-in classes are worth a go. They're not really dancing in the traditional sense, more music & movement, but I think a good intro, and good fun (altho' parents have to be prepared to wriggle about on the floor too...)
