Have heard that the success of ECV very much depends on the experience of consultant doing it, am a bit over whelemed by it all and would love to hear if anyone has any experiences of an EVC at Royal Berks - many thanks

I had an ECV in Jan 08, was a pretty skilled consultant but it didn't work, it was v likely not to work as I was 39+5 and I was a first time mum. It was VERY painful but I know from other MN threads on breech presentation that it can vary widely. They got to diagonal from breech but it would have hurt even more to keep going and the pain was unbearable. However I am glad I had it in order to give a vaginal birth a go. Make sure you have your bag properly packed and left in the car because if the baby's heartbeat is worrying they can decide to do a csection after it. I was glad mine was in the car as later on that day my waters broke and had a section. Good luck with a turning, natural or ECV! And an elective c-section isn't the end of the world (it's quite nice actually!)

is this baby no.1? I had an ECV booked at Frimley - baby had turned though the night before. If he had remained breech they were happy to do a breech birth - I am really sure RBs do breech births too

yes, it is baby no.1, the midwife was pretty negative about the baby turning on it's own as I am very small?!? Am trying crawling on all 4's and tried watching TV upside down last night, but got stuck and had to be rescued off the sofa! When I aksed about breech birth statistics my midwife said about 0.5% women would go for one - so it didn't really feel a choice to me? Yes, i think I will take my bag if it comes to the ECV. I have till 4th for baby to turn itself and then it is over to them it seems.

RBH were obviously not keen at all on breech vaginal birth - and a successful one depends on someone having a good amount of experience and confidence. They would much rather do a c-section which I was fine about.

google turning a breech - I got on all fours, then lowered myself down but kept bum in air (hard to explain) which may have helped turn DS overnight
