Any advice on good primary schools in Brighton & Hove for ASD child?

I would love some advice from those with first hand experience of sending their ASD child to mainstream primary school in Brighton or Hove. Our 4 year old son has recently been diagnosed with high functioning ASD, and is due to start primary school after Easter. However we are considering moving to Brighton in the next year, but I'm increasingly anxious about leaving such a supportive environment where we are at the moment.

We are just beginning our search, but obviously need to prioritise schools in that search. But where do I start? Can anyone recommend good supportive schools for ASD children, or let me know which ones to avoid, or where I might get some good advice? Many thanks.

Sorry I can't help with schools for special needs. There is a charity here called AMAZE that is for special needs children and their families "AMAZEwww.amazebrighton.org.uk/"

Best of luck, I have just been through the primary school process with my ds, and it was stressful!

Carlton Hill Primary are brilliant with all SN Kids...not from personal experience, but from what I see with others there & hear from parents, great back up & understanding......though I think theres now quite a waiting list, as a friend who lives practically next door just tried to get her DD in & couldn't

Also our friends Autistic Son(they expected he was AS) is now at middle street, & after a bad experience at St Barts & I forget whether it was St Lukes or Elm Grove Blush her is doing much better & his Mum is really happy with the School

good luck

Also, unless things have changed in the last 3 years, I would avoid Queens Park......I heard they ignore bullying, "it doest happen in our school" Hmm another friend moved her DDs from there as a result, so that might be worth bearing in mind with SN

just re-read my first post & realise its not very clear Blush DD IS at Carlton Hill, but not SN, though she has had some problems & they have always been brilliant with her, & SN Kids do really seem to thrive there, she's several in her Class & the inclusion mentor is great, as is the Head & all the staff I've ever dealt with Smile

My dc's go to westdene and my ds1 has settled fantastically there. They have a very good senco team their and do put a lot in place for all children with sn. Only downside is it is very hard to get a place at that school, but you'll never know unless you try i spose.
