I desperately need a kick up the bahookie, therefore thought a personal trainer might just be what I need. Can you recommend one? There seems to be so many but I don't want to waste my money on one who won't help me get results. Grin

I'm on the southside if that makes a difference. Ta

How about one of the council ones? here

semicolon · 12/08/2010 15:24

Go to British military fitness

semicolon · 12/08/2010 15:32

this will get you fit

LindaLaHughes · 13/08/2010 15:15

Thanks ladies, have been looking at the Glasgow Club, but what I think I need is someone to help me get out running again. I can't do this on my own I'd be far too embarrassed given my size. I did British Military Fitness prior to having kids and I was always the slowest person there lol, don't think I'm up to the humiliation again.

Hopefully I'll find someone soon Smile

Where abouts are you Linda?

KristinaM · 13/08/2010 16:17

i think there are running clubs attached to the Council Gyms. Also one at Eastwood Park.

I'm sure there will be beginners or women only groups

LindaLaHughes · 13/08/2010 18:13

Thanks Kristina I have looked at these but they are at times when I can't manage, eg. kids bedtime, I am also extremely anxious about keeping up in something like that and would be worried about being left behind, perhaps I'm worrying too much.

Geordie I'm in Kings Park, southside.

Thanks Smile

is there nothing at the Glasgow club at Holyrood School? that must be just around the corner from you

forgive me asking, but you mention you are embarassed about your size - are you SERIOUSLY overweight? Coz if you are you need to check with your Gp before you start running. And if you are not you need to stop being embarrased/worrying (raps knuckles)

most people who go to gyms / clubs are sociable types who are very welcoming to newbies. of course you might meet the odd snooty witch but they are few and far between, honest Smile

i think you just need to get started

LindaLaHughes · 13/08/2010 22:48

Thanks Kristina. I am borderline obese Blush, BMI is just under 30, christ how embarrassing. Holyrood is not far way, I think I just need to start doing something and taking control, instead of hoping someone else will do it for me. DH & I have just had one of many conversations along the lines of FGS woman, do you want to be fat?, no, well do something about it. Tomorrow is day one, hopefully Hmm.

dont be embarased - pregnancy, bf, hormones and looking after small children are not very conducive to staying slim and fit. many of us stuggle to get in shape after kids

is your Dh supportive or crtical of you? if he's not supportive you need to stop talking to him about it and get support elsewhere. some men are not very understanding about teh demands that having kids puts on a womans body. they think its all just pings back into place ( i know its does for some women but not for me) Envy

there are lots of weight loss / exercise threads here on mn, but its also good to find RL support too
