I am bringing my 3 year old DD, 10 month old DS and hubby to Oxford for a Hen Do next weekend (they won't be accompanying me to the spa, the restaurant or the night club!!) as baby is still BF.

I need to find something to occupy them for a few hours next Saturday afternoon (the 14th) and Sunday morning/afternoon (the 15th Aug).

Does anyone locally have any tips on what's good to do? And any brilliant hang outs for Sunday lunch for vegetarians in Oxford with children? There are so many musuems and places to go, I imagine, that I feel like we could miss some gems if I don't ask around... Thanks in advance for any advice...

Pitt Rivers would be brilliant for your 3 year old and not bad for the 10 month old.

Lots of nice things to look at in the covered market (including a couple of butchers by the way - thought I should mention considering you are vegetarian!). A couple of places to eat - Georgina's is nice for sandwichy lunch (will def do vegetarian options) or just snacks. And there's a Ben's Cookies shop!

Hinksey outdoor pool might be nice if it's sunny, although one adult and two children perhaps less of a good idea, sorry Jools, just read your post properly.

Any of the G&D cafes will be a hit. My favourite is East Oxford but there are 2 very central.

Will keep thinking :)

the mus of Natural History (next to Pitt Rivers) also v good for 3yo - lots of skeletons adn stuffed things and things, and space to tear about in case it's wet. Loos are down steps though.

oh and modern art oxford has free kids' events 2-4pm at weekends

I alwyas have trouble finding a swingpark for my 3yo when stuck in Oxford - try Angel & Greyhound Meadow, Preacher's Lane or Friar's Wharf

we like eating at Carluccios in the Castle as it's out of the traffic with lots of space to park pushchairs and good highchairs. There's also a craft market, and, from 6pm, live music in the castle sq
