anyone due to have a winter baby in Cambridgeshire?

Hello,

Having posted before about being a bit terrified about not knowing any other mums-to-be (or indeed anyone, really) in the area, I have decided to take on the suggestion that I post on here and see if anyone else is due around the same time as me.

I am due on 15 December with my first. DP has two already (DD 7 and DS 10) who are with us every second weekend and lots of time in the holidays. I am originally from Scotland, but lived for nearly 10 years in London. Moved up to the area in September last year, renting in St Ives before buying a house in a village north east of Cambridge.

Will be giving birth at Hinchingbrooke for various reasons, though we are actually slightly nearer the Rosie.

I am doing NCT classes in Cambridge from October, and am hoping to do aquanatal at Parkside too once it starts up again after the summer. Would really like to make a few 'mummy' friends in the area - all my friends are in London, and very few of them have children so I'm a bit stuck on my own.

If anyone else is having a baby this winter, do say hello!!!

Hello,

Congratulations on the baby! I'm also expecting my first, due on 18th November. I live in one of the villages outside of Ely, about halfway between Cambridge and St Ives. I work in Suffolk though and most friends are in London or Manchester, so I know what you mean about feeling a bit stuck on your own!

I'm booked in with the Rosie, though have heard great things about Hinchingbrooke as well. Cambridge seems to be full of pregnant women at the moment, so slightly concerned I'm going to end up giving birth in a broom cupboard!

Hope all's going well.

Have you thought about yoga classes? There are lots at www.birthlightcambridge.co.uk, www.bumpstobabies.org & more with classesin Cambridge , Ely & Swaffham Prior.

Thanks Emma - I hadn't noticed the NCT one in Cambridge so I'm going to sign up for that now!

BestLaidPlans - we really love Ely and surrounds, I think it would be a lovely place to bring up a child. I also feel like every woman in Cambridge is pregnant...not sure if I'm just noticing it more at the moment but I do feel like I see a lot of bumps around right now.

I'm due on 23rd Dec and live to the west of Cambridge. I'm going to the Rosie, I had my last one there after changing from Hinchingbrooke (I didn't like it there and the care wasn't the same) and was glad that I did so decided to go back again.

This is my 4th baby though so not bothering with any antenatal classes, did NCT first time round in London but didn't find them worth it as I gave birth at 36 weeks so ended up paying for nothing.

CheeseandGherkins - did you tour the Rosie or anything before you decided to transfer there? We've been really, really happy with Hinchingbrooke so far but I still feel like I should check out the Rosie just in case...

Also just realised that I wrote I was north east Cambridge, which is a lie, I'm in the north west.

I didn't tour it but I'd read and heard very good things about it and I wasn't let down. The facilities at the Rosie used to be better too and for newborns, not sure if that's still the case. If you want to check it out you should :)
