Warm baby pools in Glasgow?

All the council run pools I have been in have been far too cold to take babies in. Are there any that actually have a warm baby pool?

I know the Allander in Milngavie has a reputation of being warm - been a few years since have been in it myself but definetly still hear it is warm. Its East Dunbartonshire council. Agree Glasgow CC ones are cold - I am close to Scotstoun and its freezing. Also been to David Lloys at Anniesland recently and the baby pool was lovely and warm, but more a splash pool than a swimming pool and tbh not very child friendly - they have a heated out door pool too. We had free passes for it, was fab. We were the only ones with kids there and stuck out like a sore thumb, was lovely inside though.

The one near charing cross (old victorian bath) is warm enough; otherwise the pool in the Mariott is warm (but not council)...
Scotstoun is cold and a bit filthy IMO

We've been to Eastwood pool and didn't find it cold. HTH

I was at Tollcross today and the children's pool seemed warm to me (and a lot warmer than the big pool - nearly had a hear attack!).

The only problem is that it was busy because of the school holidays so not very baby friendly. They've also got a very, very shallow pool which would be good for babies & young toddlers but less good for those of us who don't like standing ankle deep in water showing off the cellulite...

Bellahouston is also quite warm but again it'll be busy this time of year. They've got a spa pool that children are actually allowed in for once which ds loves (it's tiny and not as hot as normal ones) and again, have the very shallow separate pool which might be good for getting babies used to the water (drawback as above).

They all monitor the water temperature though so it might be worth phoning?

North woodside swimmming pool is usually quite warm (feels toasty when you get in).The new Maryhill pool also has a baby pool -don't know what this is like but may be worth a phone?

Playdrome in Clydebank is usually warm but could be quite busy due to school holidays.

Is also quite shallow

Council - warmest baby pool I found is Belahouston and the baby pool is very shallow and not much utilised (the flume and rapids are very busy)

Private - Marriot in Glasgow and Swallow in Paisley Road West ....think the Marriot has a 1 month special offer for the summer on at the moment.

But really, I would invest in a baby wetsuit like Konfidence or something as this will keep your baby nice and warm and then you can go in any pool....we had our DD in one at 3mths and she was always warm after 30min.

PS: if your baby is under 1yo, try and keep the session under 30minutes as this is about as much as they can handle.

trixymalixy · 19/07/2010 23:20

i normally take my kids to the marriot for water babies, but it's £5 to get in.

I've been to Bellahouston with my kids and they were freezing even with wetsuits on.

We went to the council pool in Barrhead in the end because it's near my sister's house and she was coming along with her little baby. They said the baby pool was at 32 degrees when we phoned, but there's no way it was.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Just spotted this thread.

I've tried Bellahouston, Eastwood and Pollok pools and Pollok always seemed much warmer. It's also very shallow and outside of school holidays very quiet. We've has it to ourselves on quite a few occasions.

HTH.

i agree with slummymummy the playdrome in clydebank is quite warm, and is pretty shallow

lauramc01 · 15/09/2010 10:35

Third that playdrome is quite warm, another hotsy totsy pool is in the Crowne Plaza we go to water babies there (changing facilities are small to say the least....just avoid a monday & your laughing as thats us water babies) wet suits are a great as baby is less slippy & less shivery... :) Enjoy swimming!
