Does anyone living in France know whether it's possible to buy Swedish Glace ice cream there?

That's it really! We're going camping in the Auvergne for two and a half weeks in the summer. Ds2 is autistic and has dairy allergy - loves Swedish Glace and will demand it repeatedly - so I am REALLY hoping the answer is yes!

(Not in France btw but speak French). Really sorry, I've been searching and no chance it would seem. Swedish Glace don't have many stockists in the UK, and France seems to be pitifully poor for this kind of product.

If you sepak French, this website might be of help.
Another thing that might be a good idea, if you know which departement you will be in (Auvergne is split into a few), put it into this website and although their products don't include ice cream, the stockists are likely to be the kind of shop that might.
Sorry not to have better news for you. Have a nice trip.

Thanks - that's really kind of you. Don't speak good French but DH does. Will look into it.

No probs.
BTW the French will laugh at you if you ask for non-dairy ice-cream. Go for something along the lines of "iced dessert without milk".

Thanks - would that be 'dessert glace sans lait'?

Trouble is, I'd have to say 'sans gluten, oeufs et noix' too .

Yes, or derrert surgele (with accent on last e).

The French aren't very tolerant of eating whims, but if you explain that it's medical you should be ok. Find a specialised shop and stock up.
Useful words might be

intolerance
allergique
produits laitiers (dairy prods)
lactose
allergie aux fruits à coque et à l'arachide (allergic to nuts and peanuts - be careful of the word noix, we tend to think it encompasses all nuts but is in fact walnuts, they don't have a general term for all nuts)

Good luck!

ps. I would suggest your DS carrying round a card with a list in French of all his allergies - if you make it look a little official and show it to any waiters they should be able to make suggestions and accommodate you.

sorry should read dessert, not derrert!

I've definitely seen various soya desserts, "yoghurts" etc. maybe you could freeze for "ice-cream" if all else fails? Even the fairly small supermarkets around here (just outside Paris) have a reasonable range of gluten-free stuff. In a large one I'm sure you'd find a pretty good range. Have a fab holiday!
