Is there a Patient Protection / Medical advisory board in Germany?

Hello German MNers

I do hope you can help me. I have had a pretty bad experience with a Doctor here. In summary -

  • wouldn't listen to my information about the illness
  • wouldn't answer any questions about the illness or the treatment
  • wouldnt listen to any other information I gave and practically shooed me from the office.

As a result prescribed me medicine that is harmful to and should not be taken by pregnant people. Not surprised as service was so appalling, which is why I double checked the prescription.

It was such a strange experience. I was polite to her 'Sie'd her and all that, had an Uberweisung and I'm paying for the appointment - whats the problem?

Not confident to complain to my HausArzt (its a small town, they are probably mates!) so who do I report this to? This Dr is such a cow-bag I definately can't face going back to her.

I'm really upset and nervous about medical stuff here now which is not ideal as I have to give birth in 2 weeks. I just can't seem to get past this fear and imagining what else could happen to me and the baby which I know isn't rational. Also I want the illness dealt with quite apart from anything else.

If anyone can advise I would be so grateful.

sorry no use to you at the mo but wanted to bump it for you! can ask dh later - he's an Arzt - or maybe the doctor's association may be able to help. are they called Bundesaerztekammer?

hope someone comes along who can help!

Cheers Canella, would feel so much better if I knew that there was something to rely on if things go wrong again. Have to say though, that apart from this, I've not really had a cause to grumble so far.

I would ask your health insurance, they should be able to help you complain.
I think the "Ärztekammer" of the "Bundesland" is the point of call but not sure if any person can call them for advice.

Thanks mouseymouse - I'll see what they say.
