French TV licence confusion - please help!

I'm looking after the bills on a french property for someone in my family.

I've just got a letter about paying the French TV tax and I don't know which option to tick. My french is ok, but it's all government speak so I'm having trouble.

I need to tell them that there is no TV in this porperty at all, not one, or indeed anything to do with a Tv, pc or screen and there never has been. Which I'm hoping means no TV licence to pay.

Can anyone help and tell me which box to tick? I've composed a letter to reiterate my situation but don't want to get stuffed for ticking the wrong box.

Please!

Can you describe the form? TV fees are usually paid along with other taxes, at least if you live here permanently. I'm not sure what docs you have received.
What boxes are there?

Is there a CERFA number on the form? If so, we might be able to find it online and give you precise instructions.

Ooh yes. There is a cerfa number.

It's 12465*02.

It's titled "contribution a l'audiovisuel public 2010".

Can't find all the accent buttons on the pc, so forgive their lacking.

Boxes are:

I'd say it's def option 1, unless they have another property in France which does have a TV, in which case it would be 3 or 4.

bumbling · 04/05/2010 19:23

No other properties in france. They have a home in Uk where they have a TV licence.

In france, the property has no aerial, no cables, no nothing. No phone, barely any electricity etc etc.

I can see why you are hesitating. Doesn't quite seem to cover all options for exoneration, but is v specific as to why you might be exempt in No4, which is a bit strangely worded, IMO.

I agree that you need to tick No1 as it best describes the reasons why you should be exempt.

Thank you. Feel like less of a fool now you guys say it's confusing too!

I was tempted by No 3 with an explanatory letter.
