... and not sure what to do with myself.

My DP leaves for work, I take my son to school and then, basically, potter about at home, clean up then get the groceries before return school trip.

I'm hoping to start language lessons soonish. That will, at least, make me feel less silly when trying to communicate with the locals.

I don't have any qualifications, but will need to do something for money.

How easy/difficult could it be for an unqualified ex-pat to find work in Geneva?

Still a little shell-shocked at the cost of everything, but appreciating the stunning views and opportunities.

How are/have you other newbies been managing?

In anticipation.

You've become a Swiss hausfrau Daily shopping and cleaning. We live in central, german speaking Switzerland and I've been unable to find a job. This was partly our reason for leaving the country, that and the cost of living.
Good luck with the language course, I know that there are a couple of MNers who live over your way.

Thanks for response, kreecher.

How long have you been in Switzerland?

I'm sorry to hear things haven't worked out for you.

Where will you be relocating to?

Wuxiapian - get over to the Switzerland Local pages - we are planning a Genevan Meet-up lunch this week - Thursday or Friday- are you free?

There, you see, something interesting has happened. All you need to do now is stop shopping every day.
We've been here for three years and are off to Antwerp next.

Geneva Meet up

Welcome to Geneva!

First thing you have to do is check your work visa. What kind of permit do you have? If you have the right permit (B, I think you need) to work here then that is your first hurdle crossed.

Not sure about finding a job. What did you do in UK? Anything that you could do here?

You could do some English tutoring/teaching, but it would be easier if you spoke a bit of French first.
