Travelling with a dog to Scotland

As far as I can understand, the furthest North that I can arrive in the UK with a dog is Manchester. Is that right? I cannot fly to Edinburgh or Glasgow?

I am trying to find a way of taking the dog with us from Switzerland to Scotland and am losing the will to live.

Can anyone help?

But if I travel via London then I should be ok?

So Geneva - London - Edinburgh.

Anyone flown through Heathrow with a dog and two DC.

Am I mad?

Mme Lindt,
Am just responding (a) to help bump your message but also (b) because I am intrigued.

Why would you not be able to fly into a Scottish airport with a dog? I didn't realise there were rules against it.

Have found this but it's not v precise, and I suspect you'll have found it yourself.

Or this??

Thanks AuldAlliance, have found out a way of doing it. Will take the ferry to Newcastle rather than flying.

After all the searching, I came to the conclusion that I could only fly into Heathrow/Gatwick and fly on from there. And I could not take her on the flight with me. She would have to go in the hold. Then it gets complicated with getting the connecting flight. It was all too difficult, hence the long drive now.

you can get a ferry to rosyth in scotland or is that complicated re. dogs?

MmeLindt · 04/02/2010 13:42

Yes, found that out but the dogs have to go on the deck of the boat. It acn get bloody cold - we are talking the north sea here. Poor doggies.

Dfds have a doggy hotel, which is a posh name for a room with some cages but at least they are warm and dry and we can visit the dog regularly.

Thanks anyway.
