Living in Bangkok

We are planning to move out to Bangkok in the spring for my Husband's job in the Sukhumvit area. I will be at home with two young children and was wondering if anyone out there has lived in this area before and can recommend any family friendly expat compounds or just general advice on Bangkok living for me.

Sukhumwit is a road that goes from Cambodia to Trat, I think it's around 1200km long.
Ideally you'd need to be somewhere around Asoke, you'd be central and have the skytrain near by. Bangkok doesn't have compounds in the sense that Saudi does for example. Are your children going to school? That will affect your choice of living area to a huge extent. My dd and I once spent 3 hours in a taxi and moved 6km. Traffic is a huge issue there particularly when it rains or the last Friday of the month - pay day.

I just wanted to add, you'll find a lot of help on the BAMBI website, it stands for Bangkok mothers and babie's international I think.
I doubt you'll have any problems finding 'family friendly' accommodation, Thai's love children and babies. You will undoubtedly end up with a home help of some sort, nanny, cook, cleaner, driver etc. choose wisely. We had one fabulous woman from Burma she followed a string of disasters, one of whom was entertaining men in our flat .
