I have popped this into on online translator, but just want to check that the lady at the Marie is not going to laugh her head off when I say this.

I mean to say this:

My husband is celebrating his 40th birthday in June and we are having a party.

I have been told that we can borrow tables and chairs from the village. Is that correct?

Merci!

What you need to say is something like this:

Good luck!

Thanks, Castille. It always helps to have someone look over it, as the online translation programmes are a bit hit and miss.

I took your note, some of it I had memorised and the rest I stumbled through. She understood me and I understood what she was saying too. Yay!

I have to get in touch with the guy who brings the benches and tables but I have asked a woman from school to help me phone. That is a bit nervewracking.

Thanks again, I am so pleased that I managed on my own and did not just take a translator with me.

Well done! Enjoy the party
