...
Wieder flattern durch die Lüfte
Süße, wohlbekannte Düfte
Streifen ahnungsvoll das Land
Veilchen träumen schon,
Wollen balde kommen
Horch, von fern ein leiser Harfenton!
Frühling, ja du bist's!
Dich hab ich vernommen!

He might have had frühlingsgefühle ZZZen!

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:06

well the oddthing is that it took me so long to figure that out. Bit sad really , isn't it?

You know he was fidgeting about and running in front opening doors for me, smiling all the time and I just thought: what does he want?

Actually come to think of it I was wearing quite a low necked dress. Maybe that did it. I don't usually flash a lot of cleavage about but I have put on some weight and not much fits atm, so have to wear the things that do IYSWIM

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:06

Only 9 days to go by the way

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:07

have you told him or are you just planning on sending him an Easter card and seeing if he notices?

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:08

Lol, cleavage is about the only positive thing about putting on weight isn't it!

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:10

as long as your treble chins don't run into it I suppose.

OMG have you seen thequietone in her new guise is going to perform onstage today? Good for her eh?

I'd have to be drugged to my eyeballs to do that. At least on my own. I could maybe hit a triangle now and again to accompany someone else but I don't know what I could perform on my own

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:10

Yes, I told him and he came in from work and said in his half joking fashion but ds isn't going is he, he has to study he thinks it's funny but it really must be getting to ds inside, he doesn't show it as he was sitting in his room at his desk studying. I don't know why he does it. At the moment dd is the little princess and he's so strict and cold to ds then he'll want to hug him - no wonder ds won't come over to him.

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:12

he's a real laugh a minute your dh admylin

Excited about the trip now?

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:15

Looking forward to it yes. On the other hand heard from home that they have started sorting out my gran's place. Must be hard to have to sort out and get rid of so much stuff and it brings back memories

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:17

can be nice too. I wonder if the dc couldn't make a little photo album for your mum (it's her mother who died, isn't it?) with copies from old photos. You could get the copies done in the UK and then make a couple of nice albums wehn you get back, one to keep and one to send to your parents.

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:25

I want to try and make some albums with all the old family photos. I have 3 photos - one of my gran as a baby in a white frilly gown sitting with her grandmother in long dress and bonnet, one of my mum just a bit older and one of me the same age as my mum's and I thought that would make a great photo frame of all three next to each other.

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:28

That sounds nice admylin. Btw does your dh realise your dp helped with the tickets or does he just assume they materialised out of air and did you ever get to grips with discussing that or have you decided to just leave it be?

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:32

I take it he thinks I've used the housekeeping money that he sends to my account (which I did for the one way) and I will ask him for the other 220 odd just before we fly as I can then offer it to my parents. I need to get the dc their summer clothes and it would be good to get that done over there too. I won't be stocking the fridge and cupboards up before I go either as I won't have that money left over anyway.

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:35

oh yes new clothes. My dd was announcing last night: "hey mum I've grown again" and I felt like screaming: ´"well cut it out, will you?" I can never seem to get on top of it. Surely the growth spurts slow down at some age or how will they end up looking?

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:38

I have to try and get dd a pair of Gummistiefel at the weekend. She is going on a week long Freiluftschule project where they will be in the forest most of the time and we had a list yesterday that they have to bring wellies along on Monday. It's from 8am to 4pm every day somewhere on the outskirts of Hannover.

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 09:44

sounds good if the weather holds.

admylin · 20/03/2009 09:46

They said what ever the weather they will be out doors which wouldn't bother me as I was born and bred with rain, rain and more rain but I can imagine a few of the parents keeping their dc home!

After Easter they have a week at the zoo, so every day they will go and spend time and have lessons in teh Hannover zoo. Quite nice projects really.

MmeLindt · 20/03/2009 09:51

oooh, the zoooooo. The only thing I miss about Hannover. And the bagels. And our cleaner.

Well, the bloody Pringles came back on me with a vengence last night. I hardly slept. Serves me right, I don't cope well with fatty foods nowadays.

I am quite in awe of TQO doing a turn tonight.

DD is still off school, she is feeling a lot better but still a bit tired and grumpy.

Admylin
Your poor DS, I think that the break in England will do him good though

OP posts:
finknottle · 20/03/2009 12:54

Agree with MmeL, our poor s. Your h may think it's funny but he was as you say, only half-joking, your s knows that.

Plan B:
OK so maybe the Finknottle Flit is not the way to go - but I do think you should use the trip to start the whole process. Tell your h that while you're over, you will look into schools as the more you hear about the German higher education system, the more convinced you are the children will thrive better at UK schools - and universities.
Plus the courses there are shorter & more vocational, or whatever your h thinks is of more value. German system so rigid?

Can't honestly think your h believes your 2 will thrive academically in a foreign language better than their own.

Have mailed you.

Good springy weekend to all - so cold here so no guilt about no gardening!

CoffeeCrazedMama · 20/03/2009 16:23

Hello German Mnetters - sorry to gatecrash but wonder if I could ask those of you in the München area what the weather is like at the moment and what next week's forecast is like?

Dd2 is off on a week's exchange visit (we are in UK) and I'm not sure what she'll need to take clothes-wise. It's been quite spring-like this week here (though cold when the sun has gone) and we are all crazily casting off coats. Don't think this is the case in Germany? Thought your thread would be a good place to ask as BBC weather website has often let me down in the past!

Vielen Dank, und schönes Wochenende! (and sorry for gate-crash!)

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 18:40

sorry not there but I would expect it to be sunny yet cold. I would definitely take a warm anorak/coat and a hat/scarf/gloves especially if she'll be going on excursions, hanging about outdoors for any length of time and as you say at night it can get very cold still. Anything can happen weather-wise in March and April, including even snow but as far as I know, it isn't expected.

ZZZen · 20/03/2009 18:42

if you're coffee-crazed, I think you are on the right thread btw. Munich should be nice. Hope your dd has a good time.

MmeLindt · 20/03/2009 19:27

Lol at CoffeeCrazed being on the right thread. I thought you were cutting down, Zzzen.

I find this website to be reasonably accurate.

Looks like the weather will be ok, but quite chilly. Layers of clothing would be good.

I am in Geneva and it was sooo sunny here today but the wind was bitter cold. The "gefühlte Temperature" as posted on that website (windchill) can be much lower.

Gute Reise to your DD, hope she has a good time.

struggling to find the time to get on here - feels like i had more time when i worked in the uk!! this being a hausfrau is hard work!!

Cant believe how cold it is but the sunshine is great and makes up for it!! i was sat at the spielplatz today just letting them run round like loons so i could have longer sat in the sun!! cant wait for summer - i've been promised it'll be warmer than the UK!!

you'll be glad to know i've not asked anyone outside this thread about a milkman!! they find it amazing that a foreigner lives in the village never mind asking random questions about milk!!

Zzen - have you posted some pics of your new haircut? i'm totally intrigued!! i look young for my age which is a good thing most of the time but i've been told loads of times i dont look old enough to have 3 kids!! i'm 34!! i could have well more than 3 if i was that way inclined!! cant believe i look that young!! bet i wont look so young soon after the stress of looking after these 3 monkeys!!

off to enjoy our franken wine tonight - hope you all have a great weekend!!
