Hello, Melbourne. Did the earth just move for you?

How many of you felt that earth tremor about an hour and half ago? The whole house shook sideways and there was a loud rumbling sound. No damage, but it's dark, so I can't see anything. Astonishing; rather the like the Kobe earthquake simulator in the Science Museum in London (though not as violent).

All that stuff about animals anticipating it? Nah. The lazy feckers slept through the whole thing.

Me! I did! I said to dh 'what the hell is that' as I almost fell over and he said it was the washing machine on spin cycle

Thankyou for confirming my sanity for me!

How are you anyway? We are all OK. dd is loving school. She is really happy which has made everything so much easier for me, and I am finding things to do now.

Hello, savoy. Oddly enough, most of the lingering rumbles and shudders came the laundry/gas heater bit of the house, too. Went to check if the tree had fallen over onto that part of the house. It hadn't. Neighbours on both sides away so we couldn't confirm that it wasn't just our house slipping into the abyss, or us going mad. We refused to stop watching "In Bruges" on DVD just to see if Melbourne had fallen apart. A later chance tuning in to a footy match confirmed the tremor.

Everything here is fine, and hoping the Melbourne meet goes ahead so we can catch up. It's gone a bit quiet, though. Glad to hear you're finding your feet.
