DH and I are working towards a move to Australia (very much early stages) but the main 'problem' is my mum. All her family is in Ireland and I expect she would want to come with us. She is a reg. MW (though that may have 'run out'?) , a RGN and works quite high up the NHS so very 'skilled'. But she has high blood pressure (for the 'health check'). And obviously is very much over 45 Thanks

Chloe, I am an australian permanent resident with medicare & I was told that I would have to pay for my anaesthetist. They saw on the previous notes for me that I had a health care card & said it didn't apply because of that, so I am as confused as you, tbh.

It did surprise me at the time, but again...just what I was told. A leaflet Iw as given about the procedure also said that 'the anaesthetist will discuss his fees with you'

I was a public patient.

I'm 61 a UK nurse with Ahpra registration, yet I am finding it difficult to find a pathway to get a visa for Australia. I have equity to invest in Australia yet I do not know why it's so difficult to gain a visa, though respectful of Australia if they think I'm simply passed it. I'm good for my age, ex military, well travelled and in relative good shape. Be good to go to Australia but if it's not meant to be then it won't happen. To others, I hope you make it. Beautiful country. Keep smiling, stay safe
