Ladies in Germany- Where can I buy cocoa powder?

I assume it's kakaopulver. I couldn't find it in Tenglemann today. Any ideas where I should look? It's a bit of an emergency as it's DS1's birthday on Friday and I promised a chocolate cake (his favourite) but my cocoa powder supply is nearly gone. Please help. Thank you.

Any supermarket I should think. We don't have a Tenglemann here but I remember them being hit and miss with even basic stuff.

Found biscuits in Schlecker last week which were like chocolate digestives. Children and I gave them 6 out of 10.

Come to think of it even our local Schlecker has a mini food section & they have cocoa powder.

Oh Finknottle, cheers for that. Will do a Schlecker run and maybe even sneak in a pack of those biccies. Perfect for that 3pm cuppa...

Any supermarket should have it tqo.

It's Kakao but I'm not sure for the moment where they place it, in with the flour and baking stuff or near the drinks (coffee, tea).

Hope the birthday goes well on Friday

it's a crazy week (and expensive). DS2 is one tomorrow, DS1 is four on Friday and on Saturday I am (something) years old! I also share my birthday with my brother who is two years older than me!!!

also sounds very fattening tqo, lots of cake to munch your way through! Enjoy it. Hope you get to do something nice for your own birthday too.

thequietone · 24/02/2009 11:22

fat (geddit?) chance. All my celebratory energy is being used on my sons. I would like a lie-in and some help with the cooking.

Did you get cocoa quietone? My tip would be to buy a plain chocolate cake from the baker and decorate it abit, or even better order one! If you ask in advance they make exactly what you want!

I'm also confused about cocoa, sometimes it's with the baking stuff and other times it's with the coffee and tea. We haev a lidl as nearest shop and it doesn't have cocoa at all.

I have a nice recipe for chocolate cake made with melted chocolate instead of cocoa. It's yummy (Good Housekeeping) but very rich I expect - but then if you're eating cake, may as well go the whole hog (da-da, da-dum - imitation Faschungsemoticon)

HELAU!

Did you get the cocoa powder, TQO? You are going to have a busy week.

ZZZen · 24/02/2009 12:33

Helau yourself ML! How are things in Geneva? Have you had Fasching there at all?

ZZZen · 24/02/2009 12:34

We NEED to know tqo, have you got that cocoa powder yet?

MmeLindt · 24/02/2009 12:49

ZZZen
She is too busy baking cakes and organising birthday parties to update us.
We are pretty much Karneval-frei here in Geneva. thank God

TQO
Get your priorities right, woman. Get yourself back on MN and let me know if I should organise a special delivery from Switzerland.

I thought she might have been relaxing and trying to block it out. Was wondering whether we should frighten her with words like party games (in German) and party bags? Does she know she will have to do a Schatzsuche for instance? Or is that too mean, do you think?
