I am English and have lived in Switzerland for 8 years, and now live acros the border in France. I know Basel and Geneva but not Zug! Switzerland is divided into two main languages - swiss german (zurich, basel etc) and french-speaking (geneva, lausanne). Some cities in the middle speak both. Switzerland is a fabulous place to grow up and work in as the quality of life is excellent. However, it all depends where you're moving from and what you're looking for. However, the salaries are very good. Don't know if that was helpful! I can probably give more general info if you need it!

Thank you, that is kind of you. My mother lives in the French speaking Switzerland so I have a little general knowledge. I think there are some Zug mumsnetters out there as I would love some advice on schools, areas to live etc and the expat community.....

It 's a nice area . Have you joined Expat Moms as lots of similar families already there redy with advice? If you want to go down the International school route make sure the company will pay - £££ - the IS of Zug(at Baar) used to be small and have a British feel but has expanded rapidly and have heard less good things . Zurich International School (primary campus) is not far away from Zug but your elder dc would move on fairly soon to the Middle school campus which is nearer Zurich. However you would n't need to live there itself to be within a reasonable commute by road or rail. ltos of English speakign preschool activities in the area such as Kindermusik and Gymboree and both English speakign adn bilingual preschools hth

Thank you so much for your help I found the link and have asked to join so I hope to get lots of information there! The firm will pay for the IS so that was our intention. I hadn't thought of the IS at Zurich so will look into that also! So many things to think about!

Another thing to bear in mind is the ISOZug (and Lucerne now I think) at Baar only goes up to middle school age (Year 7 or 8) then they have to transfer to Riverside which is on a different side of Zug. All ISes run minibus services (again check that dh's company will meet the incidental costs)

Thank you that is kind. DH is meeting with the HR department today to find out the exact details of all this.... I got lots of information back from the Expat Moms moderator so thanks for that too!
