Is it given in single vaccines or together a la the UK now? It's that time for ds2 and we went private in the uk for single vaccines for ds1.

Bumping for you.

If I read the Impfpass properly ds and dd had them all together here in Germany but they are 9 and 10 now so don't know if anything has changed?

Gracelo · 28/01/2009 09:28

As far as I can tell by following the vaccination discussions on a German parenting site MMR is given as a triple vaccine (if not even as a quadruple now together with chicken pox). There are single vaccines available but they are quite rare and need to be tracked down by the Kinderarzt first. You will need to talk to your Kinderarzt about that. He/she should be able to find single vaccines for you.

ZZZen · 28/01/2009 12:28

According to dd's Impfpass it was all in one

verylapsedrunner · 12/02/2009 19:45

In Austria it is given as one but the difference is they give the first one at about 14 months and the second one 1-2 months later as opposed to age 3-5.

Just out of interest, it seems unlikely that any country would be offering single vaccines. Because the research sugggesting the MMR was dangerous was so poorly done it could not be taken seriously. I have come across doctors who were astonished that this is an issue in the UK.

MmeLindt · 17/02/2009 13:31

I agree with Sachertorte, most doctors that I have talked to about this have been aware of the discussions in the UK but pretty bemused by it.

You may have to pay for the singe vaccines if you want to avoid the MMR.

cashmeremafia · 26/02/2009 07:28

Also agree with Sachertorte, the worries in the Uk don't really come up in Germany. It's the whole thing at once but I suppose any doctor would wish to allay your fears and give single jabs...at your own costs, mind you.

Hey Quiet One.

We have just tried to get the MMR for DS (but everytime it gets to the day of the appointment he is ill and cannot have it).

The KArtz offered it as a triple (MMR) or and quad (MMRV) which is mumps, measels, Rubelle AND chicken pox as someone said earlier. She said either was our choice and TBH we are not bothered about seperating them. Just would be nice to get DS healthy enough to have them (although obviously will now have to have it in UK as we leave in 10 days' time!!!)
