Thanks Gabster for the inspiration for the thread!

Add your resolutions here & I can slip alongside and pretend I'll make some too.
Still too fragile - my sleep patterns go haywire when I'm home, stay up till 1 or 2am, then awake at 5am (6 here, usual flipping school time) then I come back & keep crashing on the sofa at 10pm and wake up at 4 bright & breezy.

We have snow, very pretty and h is off till Weds so am pushing him out for Streupflicht, bartered it for a fry-up with real English bacon, hmmmmmm.
Forecast is for -12C to -14C tonight - and when the children go back to school on Thursday. Yikes.

In Birmingham steht ein Hofbrauhaus

admylin · 05/03/2009 16:13

matsh?? Maths is making my brian go..gaga

MmeLindt · 05/03/2009 16:13

Ein PROSIT ein PROSIT... für die Gemüüüütlichkeit!

We need a new thread soon, perhaps that would be a good title

I hate maths and am hopeless. I can see DH is going to have to do maths homework

MmeLindt · 05/03/2009 16:15

Did I tell you that when we went to see DD's teacher she showed us the maths tests that DD had recently. The teacher showed us one exercise and I had to admit that I did not know the answer

ZZZen · 05/03/2009 16:15

mind you maybe new maths or matsh (much better name) is better since we are all saying we hate maths and can't do it and we learnt it the good old way

ZZZen · 05/03/2009 16:16

I know ML, tell me about it. I was pulling out my hair (almost in fact dd's) in year 1.

admylin · 05/03/2009 16:19

I think you're either a maths and science person or an arts and langauges person. I'm definately arts! Or you're a genius type who gets A's in every subject, usually 3 or 4 of those in every year although h thinks they don't exist, the rest of us are just lazy

ZZZen · 05/03/2009 16:22

finks is keeping quiet. She said she had some trouble at the mill and since then I don't think we've heard from her, have we?

admylin · 05/03/2009 16:23

Last I heard she was also revising for a maths test. No wonder she isn't around, I'll be in bed for 2 days when this is over.

ZZZen · 05/03/2009 16:36

I am having a lazy afternoon. I inspected the kitchen today and realised I need to empty out all the cupboards and do a spring clean. Have not done it though. Have to go and do a big shop in a minute which I am also postponing.

Good luck with the test admlyin. I really don't know how you can effectively revise for those word problems.

hupa · 06/03/2009 09:06

admylin - hope you managed to get through the revision without tearing your hair out.

I´ve been trying to think what I´d miss if I left Germany and the only things that spring to mind are Eis Cafes - always good for a bribe when dragging the dc round the shops.

admylin · 06/03/2009 09:34

Hi hupa, no we stopped as she had to read 100 pages in her book for today so she was reading up to 9pm. I can't get used to having them up so late, somehow it's been drummed into me that dc need to sleep so and so many hours and sleep is important. I hate it when one of them has to stay up past 9pm doing school work.

I'm also falling asleep mayelf at 9:30 some nights! What a wimp, I used to be able to stay up really late. Now I'm yawning my head off when the dc go to bed.

ZZZen · 06/03/2009 09:40

hope the test goes well admylin. What time do you all get up in the mornings?

I was awake at 4am this morning for some reason and I gave up and got up at 5.30. Now please all prepare yourselves for this so your hair doesn't go white with shock I.....

achtung!

went for a run!

Good grief eh? Went better than I thought. Maybe I was too tired to pant/collapse with exhaustion as would be the normal casse.

Then I had a coffee (still haven't given it up) and unfortunately woke dd too early although I tried to be very quiet. Was quite looking forward to a quiet read for an hour but she was up at 6.30 She has a busy day today so it isn't good.

Feel super tired now though

admylin · 06/03/2009 09:46

I was awake by 5am too - usually get up at 6:30 and get teh dc packed lunch ready and make breakfast. We have a thing about sitting together and having a 15 minute breakfast at the table. Starts their day off gently and we can talk abit. Hate it when i sleep in and we have to rush.

Well, done for jogging! Where did you jog? Is there a park near you? My neighbour in Berlin used to jog every morning and just be coming back as I came back from the school run. But she just use dto jog around the Invalidenpark, round and round and round, it's quite a small park. Would have driven me mad (well, madder than I already am)

ZZZen · 06/03/2009 09:53

did not run very far tbh

but usually do not run at all, ever so I just wanted to show off a bit about that

Did I tell you about the woman I knew at kiga who would run around her living room to try and lose weight?! She's lovely but talk about nuts. She ended up with knee problems and she's a physiotherapist so she should have known better.

admylin · 06/03/2009 09:56

I love big cities in the really early hours of the morning though. My best ever time in Paris was wandering at 5:30am, just light and the place to myself!

ZZZen · 06/03/2009 09:59

ah but that would have been to do with amour and copious red wine

hupa · 06/03/2009 10:02

I´ve never been jogging - just the thought makes my knees ache.

admylin - we got "What to do in Hannover" broschure in with our local paper today (I think because we´re a 2 hours drive away). Anyway in case you hadn´t heard you could go and see Florian Silberstein in Überraschungsfest der Volksmusic on 5th May .
Actually there were a couple of things that might be interesting. Apparently there´s an international firework competion that takes place on various dates between May and September. Oh and the shops are open this Sunday in the centre in case you didn´t know.

admylin · 06/03/2009 10:05

So did you get your big shop yesterday? I hate doing the big shop. I got used to doing my daily shop in Berlin when we didn't have a car. Now that we've got one I hate it, and I always forget something. Useless at planning what to buy 2 weeks in advance, because if I am going to do a big shop it has to be atleast for 2 weeks!

Dd going to her friend's disco birthday party this afternoon, so I've jsut wrappe dthe present, thank goodness another mum is pickeing her upas I don't even know where this party is!

admylin · 06/03/2009 10:06

Lol Hupa, folksmusik, mmm lovely!

I've heard of the fireworks thing too, hope we won't be here to be honest.

hupa · 06/03/2009 10:19

Do you not like fireworks?

admylin · 06/03/2009 10:22

Yes I do but I just hope we're in UK when they're on in summer!

I'm trying to figure out how to get back for Easter too but h isn't very willing to pay the tickets, I won't be able to save enough as Easter holidays start on 27th of March.

hupa · 06/03/2009 10:25

Do you usually fly or go by car? Obviously flyings alot more expensive and it´s cheaper the earlier you book.
We often drive and it´s not that bad especially since we bought a portable dvd player for the car. Mind you we usually only drive as far a London - you´ve got a lot further to go when you get to the other side.

admylin · 06/03/2009 10:30

I've thought of train/ferry but it isn't cheaper. I also have to get to the Scottish borders so it's too far by car (and I can't drive on the other side of the road [shame])

From Hannover we can get TUIfly cheap to UK and I'm looking into Bremen as some friends flew in from Scotland on cheap flights and I think the train isn't too bad to get to the airport. Probably going to be too late to do now though.

taipo · 06/03/2009 10:42

Your Easter holidays start early, Admylin. We only have a week off this year + Good Friday. Can't complain as did have 3 weeks at Christmas and another week over Fasching.

We're going to the UK over Easter. My parents are celebrating their 70th birthdays so we're going back for a big family party.

Hope you can manage to go back.

Impressed by your jogging efforts, ZZZen. I haven't done any running for years and yet I would really like to do a marathon one day. Can't see it happening somehow.
