i'm okay - had a little but of water through under the house - high set - few books had to be chucked and had a clothesline of cuddly toys etc.
We lost power for a few hours.
My mum lost power for a couple of days and had trees all over her yard as well as smashed louvres and water in the bathroom. Her road was one of the worst hit after The Gap and no mention of it ever.
Dh is in the SES - he had to attend work but has been out at nights earlier in the week.
We had another storm last night and another one predicted for tomorrow night.
Yes but again kevin went to the Gap which was pretty bad but a lot of houses in my mum's street were bad too. As well as the other side of the hill from the GAP.
It has taken my mum all week to clean up her place. I told her to wait until the weekend when dh and I could do it but no she had to do it. This guy who was not able to work due to the rain etc was going along mum's road helping out people who needed help but weren't emergencies iyswim. He helped hum pull up the bigger branches from her yard to put out for the council to come along and clean up.
THere is a real strict policy about what SES can and can't do. They are an emergency crew not a clean up crew iyswim and so they have been getting a lot of bagging. So the do things like tarp roofs, evacuate people, sandbag, rescue, remove trees that are a danger.
I could not believe one guy bitching about no one helping him out - his place was not that bad and he was a strapping healthy able to prowl the street stalking tv crews but not able to do his own place - very strange. Then there was another guy who was really abusive to my mum when she tried to warn him about her powerlines being down across the road. SES had tried to tell this guy to go back and do a detour as there was live lines across the road, mum told the guy that it was her powerline and this guy called her a stupid old woman and what would you know - tried telling mum it was her phone line. My mum smiled and said - that's why I can call SES and energex but can't watch TV. People were really abusive to the police who were trying to get them to turn around rather than trying to drive up the footpaths to get around this tree that was across the road.
SUch a contrast - people mucking in to help where they can and idiots being stupid and trying to cause more chaos.
