That's it really. I'm English (DP too). We have a two year old boy and live in Valencia.

Hi

yeah Telefonica are a bit mafia like as they still have the monopoly. We live in a small(ish) village and theren´t any other lines around here. We are considering vodafones wireless deal but dont know if we have good vodafone coverage in house. We went to the vodafone shop but they apparently cant tell you were they have good coverage or not, DP asked if they would lend us a phone to check this out but they said no.

Ive spent the morning making jam, we went out for a walk on Sunday and had a great time picking blackberrys. Brought back some memories from childhood and loved being able to carry this on with DS. (He was actually asleep in the sling but DP and I loved it... ). Will see if I can get round to making some scones to go with the jam later and treat myself,( DP works afternoons )to a proper afternoon tea.

macaco · 02/11/2008 09:40

Hi all. I have imagenio with telefonica and i have to say I've had no probs at all and have found customer service fine. The awful ones were Digital Plus, nearly made an official complaint about them...but then...meh...couldn't face it.

I'm now trying to track down a hood for my Jané push chair. I want the hood for the push chair with an in built rain cover. I got a special offer on mine and didn't realise it didn't come with a push chair hood. Looks like I can only get it as a spare part from the offical jané suppliers, of which there is only one in Seville. It's about 40 mins drive and then the parking is impossible, so 40 mins drive and 20 min walk and then it's not open on Saturdays and closes for siesta 1.30-5.30. So....I have to try and get there one morning but not Mon Wed as i work that afternoon and it's too much running around. Can't go afternoons cos DS in bed before I'd have time to get there and back. AAAAARRRGGGHHHH.
Spain is soooo shit for customer service and shopping in general. It's one of the few things I miss about the UK.

Soph73 · 03/11/2008 14:17

Hi all. Back off half term.
Macaco - I don't have a Jané push chair hood either and would love one but haven't asked round yet as to where I could get one. Am probably going to get a different pushchair as we were given this one.

We still haven´t got round to attempting to get internet at home yet and will probably now leave that until after Christmas.

DS2 went for heart scan this morning and was told he has a very strong heart which is great for us because he won´t have to go to the cardiologist again.

How is everyone?

skydancer1 · 06/11/2008 13:51

Hi all I'm in the Uk at the moment having various small appointments for this and that and seeing friends and relatives. Some aspects of life here are such a relief - yeah shopping for one! (getting little feet properly measured and start-rite shoes bought at John Lewis a highlight so far). BUt the autumnal twilight world of constant dark cloud above is so oppressive. It's kind of romantic in a Victorian fog and mist style (and the autumn colours n the trees are great because of the soggy summer, apparently), but If I had to stay for long it would soon depress me!

Glad to hear about your DS2 heart scan Soph. Great news

Soph73 · 07/11/2008 11:59

Hi skydancer. I know what you mean about missing certain things. I always get DS1's feet measured and buy shoes when we're in England. I also love Sainsbury's, I just stand there gawping. I usually end up spending a fortune & leaving loads of food at my mum's cos I haven't had time to eat it - although I do give it a good go . I miss autumn colours too but definitely couldn't live there permanently. Everyone always looks grey as well & you're frightened to say "Good Morning" to anyone in case they think you're going to mug them!

skydancer1 · 10/11/2008 20:47

Just back from Blighty. My god the weather was enough to depress for another week...

Soph73 · 11/11/2008 11:27

Welcome back skydancer. Hope you're warming back up again

skydancer1 · 11/11/2008 12:49

Thanks.SIGH - I'm on the terrace soaking up the healing rays... feeling better already. The flat is colder than where we stayed in London as Britain is all set up for atrocious weather and was all central heated and double glazed. But I think I prefer it this way....

OP posts:
Soph73 · 11/11/2008 15:16

I think it's definitely healthier for you, even though houses are colder here inside in the winter. I always go down with an awful cold when I visit England now & I'm sure that it's down to the carpets & central heating & constantly going from freezing outside to boiling inside cos everyone's got their central heating turned up!!! At least here you can just don another jumper & still sit outside sipping your wine/sangria/whatever

MrsMcJnr · 25/01/2009 21:14

Any of you ladies still around?

Soph73 · 26/01/2009 15:25

Hi there MrsMcJnr - yep definately still here How you doing?

patoamarillo · 10/11/2009 15:10

hello

anyone still out there? Whats been happening?

Ive finally been reconnected with internet at home . Never really worked out the whole going down to the library and using computers there, well actually it was DS who had better ideas, like running through the library screaming.

Anyways not much has gone off between now and then, DS one year older (well everybody come to that ); TTC #2 but no luck so far but having fun trying.

Better get off now and actually do some thing productive while DS is napping.

SuperSoph73 · 10/11/2009 15:21

pato - how lovely to see you again. I thought we'd all disappeared into the ether! Not much happening here really. We are all suffering with illnesses which we just don't seem to be able to shift & I've trapped a nerve in my back so off to see a physio on Thurs morning.

DS1 is 7 now & DS2 is 19 months this month ... where does the time go? DS2 is coming along in leaps & bounds & we're really proud of him. Just taking one day at a time but it is still quite difficult to not compare him to "normal" children of his age.

Have a look at my piccies there are some new ones on there I think.

We now have internet at home but I still use my work day to do my chatting

patoamarillo · 10/11/2009 20:34

Hi Sophie

Just checked out the photos - they are lovely, I love the callapsed in the car seat one! I didn´t even know you could do profile pages and all that. Guess what Ill be up to at nap time tomorrow...

claricebean · 12/11/2009 08:06

Hi Soph and pato. Wow, a whole year has passed since the start of this thread. Lovely photos, Soph.

Things here are great. DC now 9, 7, 4 and 2. Am enjoying my last year as a SAHM as DD3 will be off to school next September.

Good luck with the TTC, pato.

Off to get dressed. Have two poorly children at home today. A friend has just picked up my middle two to take them to school so having a rare no-school-run breakfast in PJs.

SuperSoph73 · 12/11/2009 13:28

Hi clarice, can't believe it's been a year since our first posts Sorry to hear that you've got poorly ones. We've all been poorly over the last couple of months & of course we've got Gripe A cases at work amongst the students & the staff - yuk! I'm sure a lot of it is just normal flu or a really bad cold though - you know how paranoid some people can get Hope yours recover soon.

Went to the physiotherapist this morning for, what I thought was a trapped nerve, in my back. Turns out that I've got 2 injuries - a very bad muscle injury & a slightly less bad ligament injury. He gave me acupuncture - have any of you had that done?? Bursts of pain (very shortlived) but works wonders. He wants to do 2 more treatments on the muscle and 1 on the ligament. I was really impressed as well because I was there nearly 2 hours and it only cost 35 euros. All subsequent treatments are 30 euros. Not bad at all. Am feeling a little sore now though - ouch!

claricebean · 12/11/2009 16:26

Hi Soph. Have never had acupuncture but a very good friend in the UK swears by it and, in general, I think people I know who´ve used it have been impressed. Hope you recover soon.

I know what you mean about the gripe A vs bad cold thing. I was also highly amused when I returned from summer in Blighty to find everyone calling it gripe A instead of gripe porcina. I can´t imagine that a complete ´re-brand´could be pulled off in the UK, but here everyone thinks it´s highly sensible to change the name so they just get on with the new one.

patoamarillo · 13/11/2009 22:06

Hi
clarice good to hear from you again.
Hope everyones feeling better and its not turned into gripe A!!!!

Sophie never had acupuncture but as Clarice said only heard good things. I did consider it for labour pain control but couldn´t find anyone who´d do it. Let us know how you get on.

DS had an accident this week burning himself quite badly on Tues with just-made-cuppa. Had to rush him off to emergency. I think I actually felt worse the following day when we went to Drs to change the dresssing, as Id imagined it being a bit red, but it had blistered and scorched all his shoulder and parts of chest. He himself seems fine, playing as normal but poor thing looks so sad all wrapped up in a big bandage. Does seem to be healing well also.

SuperSoph73 · 16/11/2009 14:51

Oh pato, sorry to hear about your little one. DH did exactly the same thing with a cup of tea when he was little. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Am going for my 2nd round of acupuncture tomorrow. Although I'm still in a lot of pain, I definitely am noticing a difference. Will let you know how a feel tomorrow after I've been pummeled again

skydancer1 · 19/11/2009 01:23

Just noticed this thread revived after a long time. Hello all . No time to chat but had to put my head round the door.

SuperSoph73 · 19/11/2009 14:53

Hello skydancer, nice to see you

DS2 had a revision today for his hearing & apparently he can hear perfectly .... this after 2 hearing tests where they said he had hearing loss in both ears He has to go back in 6 months so we'll see what they say then!!!

patoamarillo · 19/11/2009 15:40

HI

skydancer hi

supersophie thats great news . How you feeling today after the acupuncture?

DS is recovering really well. Considering this week he feel off a chair cut open his eye and the following day at the library fell down and banged the same eye and now has a lovely great shiner. I had to take him to the nurse today for final all clear regards burns and almost cancelled for fear they´d call the social.

Off now to enjoy a bit of winter sunshine.

SuperSoph73 · 19/11/2009 16:31

pato - am feeling fabulous. This morning I actually woke up and for the first time in about 10 years I wasn't in any pain. Amazing!

Your LO isn't half going through it at the moment isn't he LOL at you worrying they'd call the social services. I thought that after Sam launched himself off a sunbed onto a concrete floor during the summer hols and split his head open. I'm surprised we don't all have regular heart attacks

dallsporpoise · 19/11/2009 21:22

Hi everyone, i'm pretty new to mumsnet but i live in mallorca and have been here about 7 years, so its been great reading some of your posts - can def relate to the Telefonica and sainsbury/shoe shopping in the UK posts! I have three kids in the local school, age 1, 4 and 7 and still am crap at spanish. Hey ho, they speak catalan here as a first language which doesn't help but frankly thats just an excuse. i just don't have time to learn and there's too many brits and germans here. My new year resolution will be to learn properly next year (same resolution as the last 6 years...)

SuperSoph73 · 20/11/2009 11:20

Hi dallsporpoise My Spanish is diabolical and we've been here 10 years in January. It just doesn't help when all your friends/colleagues are English does it? Every year my resolution is to learn properly and every year seems to disappear in a blur without me doing anything especially when you've got kids there's always something else to do. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
