Shit and I though it was wine.
I found it a rather lpleasurable experience after 3 bottles. Though I got the spins and one of our friends nearly pushed his baby into the harbour.

isn't it past your bedtime, young lady?
and I say that not in a patronising way but because I AM 41

Bubbaluv · 22/09/2008 15:57

Yarra Valley might be a good region for you to try.

You can get Cotes du Rhone (and other French wine) at Dan Murphy and it doesn't cost a fortune. I drink like a fish so try and confine myself to lindeman's cellar red during the week.

When we lived here 19 years ago I loved the big, Aussie reds, but I am well and truly over them now. Unfortunately Shiraz seems to be the most popular grape here at the moment. Mind you, we had a weekend in the Hunter Valley last school hols and there was some rather lovely barbarra and merlot that wasn't too heavy. A friend from Brighton is coming over in November so that's a good excuse to go back and stock up!

NZ wine wong, it's the only way to go
try Marlborough wines. yum yum yummy (e.g Cloudy Bay sauv, don't reallyt drink red but MOunt Riley ones are good).
there are loads more though, inc. cheaper ones. my parents' holiday house is right by the BLenheim winery bit and it's like heaven

oooh I love Aussie reds - to me a red has to set the throat on fire - like good old fashioned cough mixture - but then I love them heavy. Try NZ reds - I (generalising here) don't like them. Had a case of Pinot noir delivered from the wine club and horror of horrors couldn't drink it - tasted like boujolais nouveau - dh chilled it and drank it but he likes rose and I don't.

NZ whites are far better though.
