The old one seemed to have died, and anyway it was nearly up to its limit!

How are you all surviving this "weather bomb"?! Not so bad down south I'd guess? Pretty yucky in Wellie but nothing we don't get fairly regularly at this time of year.

DD1 with her Dad this weekend. Have just tried DD2 in the shower for the first time which went surprisingly well! I'm keen to get her used to showering as DD1 still resists the idea at 6. I can hardly believe she's 7 months old on Wed...

Hope you're all well?!

ahh wellie, to your bluebell wood, just think, you'll have a forest by the time the grandchildren start arriving

buzzybee · 25/08/2008 11:12

LOL Wellie - I hope so!! I presume (hope) the TVNZ angle is "those scumbag real estate agents" rather than "those diabolical childcare centres playing Bob the Builder day and night"!

What's rather ironic is that there is a fairly sizeable primary school on the other side of the neighbour 2 houses away!! (which presumably they were aware of since its been there for decades...)

I'd be interested in that book 20pence - what's it called? can I buy it somewhere? You never know when these things might come in handy!

Sounds like fun Kjaysmum. Did you have any luck? I'm currently brushing up my sewing skills making curtains for Daisies and also baby sleeping bags (the latter is a bit of trial effort...)

Sorry to hear about your MIL Sibble, and all the lurgies.

It is all very wearying isn't it? Not helped here by 3 teeth coming through at once. We're off to doc tomorrow to see if we can improve anything.

I got caught in Akld tonight trying to get home but Wellington was fogged in. Finally made it back home 8.15pm. Just as well my trusty Mum was able to step into the breach and pick up both DDs! Made me realise I need to have Plans A, B and C for such contingencies...first step is to leave a copy of my house-key at DD2's creche so that someone else could pick her up on my request and come back here with her.

I now can't find the book - but I will have more of a hunt later. I only paid about $5 from the Warehouse - but it is a good book.

Basically the best piece of advice is that the best way to take the heat out of a story is to politely refuse to be interviewed or to make a statement (and careful not to give any off the record comments at all as they will be quoted out of context).

TV articles need to show balance and if you say nothing you don't provide balance - which either means that the story won't run because it would be one sided, or that it will be short to acheive some sort of balance.

Without seeing you on screen it will also be instantly forgettable. Just some dude moaning about peace and quiet whilst having 3 children (who presumbly will all go to some sort of preschool for their 20 free hours) will be seen for what it is. Just a bloke who paid too much for his house before the property market sagged and now needs someone to blame.

Sibble · 22/09/2008 00:38

Hi All

We have been rather quiet of late. Thought I'd resurrect this thread with my good news. I have had my letter from Immigration and my citizenship application has been approved. Am awaiting my ceremony date when I sing the song, pledge my allegiance, do the funny handshake and get my piece of paper then I'll be a kiwi like the rest of my family. Hurray.

MrsJohnCusack · 22/09/2008 00:51

HOrray Sibble!
and on a similar note, my inlaws have been approved for a visa - we really thought they were going to turn down MIL over health. it has been v.stressful. Whilst I would be reasonable happy to keep them in the UK, the guilt/hassle/fallout of them NOT being allowed in would be hideous, so this is the best way all round (especially for the children)

20p in case you see this, did you go? how was it? we couldn't make Friday due to revolting state of DS's nose - too ill to come really

ninedragons · 22/09/2008 07:13

Speaking of the media, my DH is going to be on Radio National breakfast show tomorrow, talking about the baby milk scandal. They're recording it this afternoon. I think it could be bumped if anything more newsworthy happens overnight.

Please don't out me by posting his name on here, but if you do hear it you can turn to your DH and say "his wife is a Mumsnetter, did you know?"

Catper33 · 22/09/2008 10:08

ninedragons - who is doing the interview??? A relative of mine is one of the people who does the breakfast show!!!!

WhatSheSaid · 22/09/2008 10:13

Congrats on the citizenship, Sibble. I still haven't got round to applying for mine...think I have the forms somewhere.

I listen to National's breakfast programme most mornings, 9dragons, I'll listen out for your dh tomorrow...

ninedragons · 22/09/2008 12:23

How weird, Catper! It was Geoff. Apparently it was supposed to be Sean but he couldn't do it.

Shells · 23/09/2008 01:33

Well done Sibble.
Too much shouting of 'eat your breakfast NOW' in this house to hear the breakfast programme. Hope it was good.

Must be coming up to DDs birthday Whatshesaid? Can't remember what the date is. What are you going to do?

And are you waddling yet Wellie? Collapsed on a sofa for most of the day?

WhatSheSaid · 23/09/2008 03:16

Yes, dd's birthday 2nd Nov. Not sure what we'll do for it yet - maybe a picnic on the beach if it's nice. It's a Sunday so dh will be around.

When is your due date Welliemum?

Catper33 · 23/09/2008 05:45

ninedragons - Interesting!!!!!! I hope DH enjoyed his experience with Geoff. I'll have to have a listen on their online audio replays and let him know 'his wife is a mumsnetter' as am I !!

ninedragons · 23/09/2008 07:57

Ah, I don't think it got played this morning but might later in the week or early next week. DH has commissioned some market research about the effect on Chinese consumers so apparently they're interested in discussing that, and it won't be ready until Thursday evening.

kjaysmum · 24/09/2008 01:16

hello all,
congrats Sibble for your becoming a kiwitizen, does this mean you get a black passport, it's some much more cool than red I think! I've just realised for the first time in many, many years my passport has run out, wow to think I used to be a global traveller, I never thought I'd see the day, still must get it renewed incase of emergencies.
Ninedragons, it's such a dreadful thing to happen isn't it, I will listen to your husband's interview I can't imagine the effect it must have the consumer, I guess mistrust is pretty high on the list.
Buzzy how's your enterprise going, did everything calm down with the neighbours?
Be nice to have another meet up in Wellington soon, maybe in the holidays?
Papillon...Hi

buzzybee · 25/09/2008 10:19

Hey Sibble, congrats and thx for reviving thread
We're due to open Daisies Monday week so absolutely manic here. Rather exhausted not helped by DD getting a cold just as she shook off the "100 days" cough, so we're back into coughing thru the night
Still its all very very exciting - actually into the opening boxes and putting on shelves stage now which is lovely - but still a few "major" items to sort - this weekend I'll be laying ready lawn (the sort you roll out like carpet) so wish me luck!
Have also decided to increase my hours at work to 28 hours as need the money. First "extra" half day today as client wanted me at a workshop. Not best timing for Daisies but there you go!
Yes do tell all Wellie - how are you feeling? Mad to think Shells and I were almost at the same stage as you this time last year
Bea has just starting clapping and saying "mum" very cute!!

welliemum · 28/09/2008 15:14

Hello all, sorry, just caught up with this!

Due date is 12 November. I'm now 33 weeks and the size of a house. Would love to be lying on the sofa - not much chance of that - and I'm up at 3am because I have a horrible cold plus reflux.

Anyway, apart from that we are cheery. Have been having a bit of a hectic time but it's all settling down.

Good luck with your opening, Buzzy - hope dd2 shakes off the cough too.

Congratulations Sibble! I wonder if we'll be doing this one day!

I'm keen for a meet-up these holidays if anyone has any ideas. Not feeling v. inspired here at the moment!

kjaysmum · 29/09/2008 08:52

Hello, Well it sounds like both Buzzy and Wellie are on the brink of new beginnings hey, my thoughts are with both of you!
I shall be down in Wellington towards the end of the holidays but haven't finalised it yet. I forget what you ladies did last meet up? would be nice to be outside if the weather is good, I imagine you won't want to be doing to much miliage Wellie, maybe just a herby tea/coffee, somewhere nice would be best? Buzzy you're probably pretty busy with all yours hours let us know when you have some free time.

buzzybee · 30/09/2008 09:11

Fab news today from Project Buzzy
We have received approval from the Ministry of Education to open Daisies and also got Code of Compliance for the building work from WCC!!! So so excited, relieved and absolutely shattered. Have been up til midnight every night doing mad things like sewing calico bags - and feeling very stiff after laying ready lawn all day Saturday.

Was intending to go to bed at 8pm tonight but have got caught up watching Millionaire NZ....

We could do a meet-up after the school hols are over if that's an option? I'm off to Akld for a wedding on 11 Oct (taking Bea but not Issy).

Thinking of you Wellie. Take my advice and invest in large bottles of Mylanta. I also took echinacea tincture for colds after reading up quite a bit - conclusion seemed to be it was fine while PG (very popular in Germany for many decades apparently!)

OP posts:
welliemum · 30/09/2008 09:17

Fantastic, buzzy!!

Have made a note of Mylanta. However my intention is to be completely better when I wake up to tomorrow as I'm just totally fed up now. Huge, uncomfortable, exhausted and can't breathe - am being v. pathetic here.

Must go and sleep, but am happy for meetup anytime.

kjaysmum · 03/10/2008 10:15

seems like a busy time hey buzzy, congratulations on your success. I also am having trouble fitting in a time when I'm in Wellington with Ds and would prefer to meet up with him, so after the school hols it may have to be.
Hope you're cold is better soon Wellie, You probably already know about this but Floridix was my friend when I felt run down and fed up when pg, you can buy it at common sense, homestead health even some supermarkets sell it.....other than that I think we all just need more sun especially at the weekends!!
