I’ve lived in Martinique for 8 years, lived in Dominica for 3 years and right now I currently live in mainland France.

I would like to live in the Netherlands in the future and then Swiss afterwards. As well as Belgium.

but there are some countries I would never move to.

I would never live in the US or Israel that’s for sure. Specially with the current man in office.

but I would love to try out Canada at some
point in my future. But right now I am mostly interested in Europe.

I would only move to Sweden, Denmark or Germany.
So lots of places I would never move to

Dearg · 31/01/2026 15:36

I have lived in many countries and have found something to like in each of them, including the US and the Middle East.

But I would not want to live in Turkey, Venezuela, Libya or Nigeria, all of which I have visited for work, and found unpleasant for different reasons.

It’s a very long list…. basically the only countries I would move to are Ireland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Malta or Canada.

Combination of language barrier, distance from family, climate and career limitations mean I wouldn’t consider anywhere else. I’d happily visit most places on holiday, but I wouldn’t emigrate.

Sweden, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand

Dreamlava · 31/01/2026 15:50

Oh yes and the fourth and final I would ever move to - Canada

OttersMayHaveShifted · 31/01/2026 15:58

Most countries. It would be much quicker to list the ones I would consider - Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, maybe Norway or Sweden, New Zealand, France. Possibly Austria, but I've never actually been there! I speak fluent German and French. I wouldn't consider anywhere with a hot climate, anywhere with bad human rights records, anywhere with a religious regime or mediaeval attitudes to women's rights. Definitely wouldn't consider the US and have never been there.

I already live in Europe, but I would never move to the USA, Australia, the Middle East or China.

BrinkWomanship · 01/02/2026 09:41

I absolutely would move to Israel. I’d steer clear of most other Middle Eastern countries though due to their poor treatment of women, appalling human rights records and hatred towards Jews.

Born in Belgium, lived in the uk but now loving life in Canada. 🍁 Would never ever live in the US.

FallingSlower · 01/02/2026 09:46

This is silly, OP. A discontented Brit who only speaks English is, frankly, not that much in demand, and Brexit dramatically limited your European options.

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/02/2026 10:00

I don't think I will ever move abroad. My family/friends connections in the UK mean too much to me, I would hate to be lonely.

yorkshiretoffee · 01/02/2026 10:06

Surely easier to ask the question the other way round?

There are over 100 countries I would never move to. Mainly Middle East, Russia, most of Asia, Africa, South America, USA, Central America, Pacific islands and honestly probably not Australia or New Zealand either.

What kind of lifestyles do you have if you’re able to hop around so much? In terms of jobs, family, children, etc, not to mention language? And how about friendships?

Living in lots of different places was the sort of thing which sounded very attractive when I was younger, but as life has actually happened nothing could seem less practical.

Dreamlava · 01/02/2026 11:39

On the basis of this OP’s posting history - i don’t think this op would be happy living anywhere

Crushed23 · 18/02/2026 19:06

From the UK I would only move to: US, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland.

There aren’t many places in the world that I think would offer a better quality of life and that I would actually want to live in.
