Can we talk about sweating? .. 🥴

I‘m post menopause living in Spain. I live an outdoors life, love the sun, the warmth, tolerate the sun well; I don’t burn… but jeez do I sweat 😥
In the height of summer I live like a mushroom - in the dark in the day and venturing out after dusk.
My work takes me out to the sunshine and beaches and I see the local ladies all looking fresh and cool despite the heat. They don’t seem to sweat at all while I’m wiping my face at any opportunity 🥵
It doesn’t bother me 90% of the time but when I have to meet people and look half decent, I’m a sweaty mess and I just look like an old dish rag.
Any tips for sweat prevention, sweat proof make up or general hot weather tips 🥵

I live in Australia and have a very sweaty face. All of my make up is cream based as powder creases and looks rubbish. I don’t bother with foundation in the summer and stick to a tinted moisturiser with a bit of cream blush. This summer I started carrying a linen napkin with me to dab my face instead of swiping with my hand, which felt (and maybe looked?) a lot better! I also wear a hat everyday during the hot months.

I’ve come to accept that I’ll be sweaty for some of the year. People are more accepting of being a bit hot and flustered in general!

Sorry I can’t give a magic answer to your question, I wish I had one myself! I haven’t found it possible to prevent sweat, you just have to dress appropriately and avoid being outside when it’s too hot, which I’m sure you know already!

Thanks for the tips 👌🏻
I’m going to do some research and try some “stay put” products. I can see the benefits of wearing a hat but they do make me feel hotter 🥴🥵

Id love to know how the locals always look so fresh 🤔😩

I’d love to know the right pants to buy for hot weather … I’ve not cracked it yet! M&S pants have really been ‘downgraded’ and now are awful for hot weather when I’m a sweaty mess

Pro-banthine!

I'm in Abu Dhabi and have to wear formal clothing and closed shoes for work, including a jacket. I'm sweaty for at least 6 months of the year.

My tips from living in a hot country- carry a spare tshirt with you (i used to walk to uni and change my top when I got there!), get one if those little handheld fans for your bag , sun cream marketed at sports people is much better and less greasy, I didn't wear much make up but found powder foundation the best option to minimise the shiny-ness. Good luck!!!

Have you tried bamboo clothing and bedding? Boody is a good option and may be able to give some basics options.

sure cream/stick deodorant is good - put it under your boobs too!

i prefer a powder make up to dry up the sweat.

LRP matte moisturiser is a good base too.

Back in the day my grandmother used baby powder on her body and regular face powder for her face. I use a hand held fan!

Thanks all for your tips and tricks.
I approached a local MUA for some tips - she’s given me some recommendations too.
Here’s to a less sweaty summer 😬🥵

I thought this too. I’ve always stocked up on visits back but they’re just not the same anymore

I live in Florida. We all basically hibernate in the summer.

I live in Singapore - quite a bit of the clothes I’ve bought locally is actually lined - which sounds super hot but can be super useful to absorb sweat / feel more comfortable

Also Uniqlo airism - all of it !

And finally here people use sun umbrellas - they have a UV lining - can be super useful if you do need to walk outside in the sun for a bit

unsync · 24/05/2025 14:43

I use Wild deodorant which has something to absorb sweat in it, good for underboob too. I also have a handheld fan. Moving more slowly in the heat and avoid doing anything in the middle of the day.

ColdTofuSandwich · 24/05/2025 14:48

Neck fan!

In the hot and humid season (I'm in the Caribbean- it lasts at least half the year) I survive by having 3 showers a day and changing my clothes at least once a day (I work from home with a fan but dont use the air conditioning).

DH is lucky and works in an air conditioned office.

The DC are unlucky and barely have fans in their classrooms. They just come out of school wringing wet and stinking. They are also scarlet if they've just been doing sport (am still furious with my 10 year old's teacher who got them playing football 3-4pm one day - DS2 got heatstroke and missed 2 days of school).

Clothes-wise I go for anything loose and baggy, often a size too big shorts and tshirt or very loose sun dress. Its not glamorous but I'm too hot to care.
