International Schools in Singapore

Hi! Moving from UK to Singapore, & trying to identify good international schools that follow the UK system to allow smooth re-integration for possible future move back. Looking for academic focus, quality & caring educators, good facilities, diverse cohort of children. We have 2 year old & 4 month old - what’s the recommended advance registration requirements to secure a place? Any tips / suggestions when touring schools to watch out for / ask about? Any experiences to share (past or current!) would be helpful! TIA

Most have moved to annual admission now - mine are more in mid / late primary but the usual names are Tanglin, Dulwich, NLCS, Eaton House, Brighton etc that are more UK curriculum

Our experience tbh though was that at younger years no matter what they say they are behind where the DC were in UK state - not sure why - and it ramped up from year 2 onwards

I have no idea on nursery - are you planning to have a helper?

Thank you! I’ve seen these school names pop up too, was wondering if any further insights on them / recommendations? Thanks for sharing your experience pre year 2! Perhaps play nursery setting or helper would be enough?

A lot of ppl seem to have helpers, so we are thinking yes! But I heard they are more specialised in housework, cooking etc - vs childcare?

My DC are older so go to school and more independent - I don’t know tbh about nursery - you do see helpers out with children but ours mainly does housework and cooking (I am a terrible cook and they are fantastic!)

We didn’t have a great deal of choice when we moved, we needed a British curriculum school that had places in the right year groups - I would say we are pretty happy - have heard good things also about UWC, GESS etc so worth having a look around the various schools if you are able to
