Currently on Cow&Gate Comfort for Colic and Constipation in the UK. Where to find a similar formula in Thailand (Koh Samui)?

Hi everyone,

We are from the UK and currently travelling around Thailand with our daughters. My youngest is 4 months old and has been mixed fed since birth. She mostly takes formula though. She has colic since 6 weeks old and silent reflux. We changed 4 milks and eventually ended up using Cow&Gate Comfort for Colic and Constipation.

We have got two more pots to last us another 2 weeks or so. I was just wondering what would be the equivalent for this milk in Thailand? Or obviously anything similar....

Also, do you think goat milk might be suitable for a baby with colic?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

thanks x

Well, my suggestion wasn't that good. Try here https://www.reddit.com/r/Thailand/

I live in Thailand, mainland not an island and I have looked online at places similar to Amazon in UK. The websites are Lazada or Shopee. Both generally are good for buying foreign foods however in both cases they don’t specifically sell what you are looking for. May I suggest that you consult a doctor or nurse on the island and he/she might be able to give the Thai equivalent or as near as damnit to what you are looking for. They will probably be able to advise on where to get it too. You are pretty restricted where you are on buying such items but that does not mean to say they or there like are not available. Failing that a supermarket such as Lotus’s May also sell what you’re looking for although to be honest I think going down the doctor/ nurse route would be better. Sorry I can’t help you more.

@Cormoran ooooh no worries !! Thanks again for your help! I will post on there too! Xx

@Bertgotkinky this is what i was worried about...not to e able to find any milk easily on the island..we still have one and a half pot so might be able to survive on that before we go to Hue Him next week where we meet out friends. They are local so might be able to help!

i will look in Lotus though just in case then perhaps see a doctor too. Can I just ask how can we see a doctor? Any idea about price as well?

thanks a lot for your advice! This is really helpful xx

I have no doubt your friends will be able to help. Rather than go to hospital what I do is go to a local clinic(กลินิก)there are lots of them around (reception at you accommodation would point you in the right direction)and ask to see a doctor. You may have a long wait ( that’s normal) or even consult a nurse there. Cost I pay is about 50 baht that’s just for a consultation. It may be different for you because you are a visitor whereas my status here is as an actual expat. Also it will be more expensive on the island as they are catering for tourists and of course tourist prices kick in especially on Samui. Personally I think via your friends would be the best solution but of course your situation may be come more critical if you have to wait.

Actually I’ve just had an afterthought maybe a pharmacy would be able to help you better look for a sign the writing is usually white and the writing is green in colour “ ขายยา” that basically means “sells medicine” there are loads of them around and generally they speak good English especially on a holiday island. Sorry if I’m rambling I’m just trying to try and find the easiest solution for you. If I can help further or you have more questions please ask and I will try to help. I will add I am male not female but I am a dad and spent many a day/night feeding my children.

@Bertgotkinky thanks so much you have been VERY helpful! I followed your advice and went to Lotus and found a variety of milk which is great!

I just thought the formula is actually expensive, almost double the price of what we buy in the UK. I found Hi-Q, DG, etc.

thanks again! Really appreciate it x
