Moving to the Netherlands

Hello,

We're relocating to the Netherlands in the Christmas holidays from the UK with our daughter who is 6. She's currently fluent in both English and Dutch (DH is from NL). We're going to be living in the Amsterdam/Utrecht area (initially at least) and I'm looking for any tips/recommendations for local parent networks and activities for kids in English. We're planning for her to go to a local Dutch school once we're settled but I'm keen to find out what extracurricular clubs and activities are available in the Randstad in English for her - if we'd stayed here she would have been starting Brownies etc and I'd love for her to be able to have some social use of her English still to keep it up that way.

Many thanks for reading!

Unfortunately I'm not in that area but my tip is that you can get all the Freeview channels with a satellite dish.

i find my children gravitate to English speakers, at school and out of school activities. I don’t think you need to search out specific English activities if she already speaks Dutch. Having said that I do believe most of the larger cities have English speaking scouting groups and other activities. I find things like swimming lesson, sports tend to take more bilingual approach (mainly Dutch but will switch to English if needed).
