Spanish/UK State Pension

I lived and worked in Spain, paying into the system, for 13 years then I returned home to the UK for personal/family reasons.

I have also worked in the UK, paying into the system, for 26 years and paid NICs for the missing years so when I reach 67 (or whatever age it may be) I will be entitled to a full UK state pension.

If I had worked another 2 years in Spain, I would be able to claim the lower level Spanish State Pension (15 years).

My Question is: Is it possible to pay 2 years worth of Spanish national insurance contributions to reach the required minimum of 15 years?

I know that I can combine the two (under the post Brexit agreement) to make one UK/Spanish state pension but I want to know whether I can claim the full UK state pension, as well as a separate Spanish one (minimum contribution of 15 Years)?

Thank you.

Ask on the Citizens advice Spain Facebook page or the Brexpats in Spain page. There are some very knowledgeable people there.
I know the Spanish pension is better than the UK one so would definitely be worth pursuing

Hopefully this isn't too cheeky a request, but would you mind updating this thread if you find out the answer or more information? I may end up in a similar position as working in Spain at the moment.

(Plus it will be useful for other people in the future, as I think an answer on Mumsnet is probably more likely to come up in a Google search than info from Facebook groups).

Yes, I'll update if I get any information.

I'm going to ask my Spanish friends at my old office if they could throw some light.
Thanks.

Thanks!

One thing I forgot to mention that might be relevant to you is that, regarding the 15 years of contributions you mention, I understand that at least two of those years have to fall within the 15-year period before you become eligible for the pension. (Apologies if you already know this, it just occurred to me)

Thank you for those links, I'm going to look at them tonight.

FYI, I changed some the number of years etc. In reality, I only need to pay a few months contributions to make up the 15 years minimum requirement.

Thanks again for the links :o)
