Hi,

Hoping I might get some help, if there is. Thanks in advance.

DD (18) has accepted a place in AMS and flies there tomorrow for international student arrival day 2 (of 2) and orientation.

But had fainted after a blood test last week at GP and may have broken her nose (in Ireland). State of our health system is almost as bad as NHS - the ENT is not on call at A/E, only 1 afternoon a week and already full this week, so she literally has to fly home again next week and miss her first actual day of uni to get it properly checked and reset if necessary. And fly back next day.

Is this something she might be able to get seen and sorted in NL once she arrives? She has her (what used to be E111) card and health/travel insurance for overseas.

She arrives solo tomorrow but I go up (from Brussels) and arrive mid-morning Friday until late Saturday (and can stay on if needed).

Where do I even start looking?

DS1 is a student in nl and the healthcare is a bit of a pain as is all the admin but you can get by with English only.

You need local health insurance, in fact it's a legal requirement then you need to find a doctor etc. The university was no help at all.

We foolishly thought it would be like France where we live but it's more like crappy cross between the NHS and the US, TBH he comes home to see the doctor where he can get a next day appointment with no hassle!

Sorry OP I'd try to do it at home if you can.

Thank you both - she seems resigned to needing to come home and has a flight booked to come back for 1 night and an appointment for the clinic.

We have arranged an overseas health insurance policy - I'll do a bit of checking on whether she needs more than that when I see her and go through her paperwork with her at the weekend.
