Hong Kong island properties that aren't dated?

Hi, we're looking to live on HK Island but so many of the 3 to 4 bed properties we see are really quite dated (even in mid-levels or happy valley which everyone raves about).

I know they won't be super new like those in TKO or Lohas Park for example, but does anyone know of any developments on HK Island that are a bit less dated? The only one I've seen so far is the Residence Bel Air in Pok Fu Lam.

I know I'm clutching at straws here given this is specific to HK, so thanks a ton for any insights you might have!

What’s your budget? Generally stuff is just dated ( especially kitchen and bathrooms) and no one really cares that much. It’s a real mindset switch.

Also a lot depends on individual landlords- some apartments within apartment blocks will have been refurbed and some won’t. Honestly I would prioritise storage and space and compromise on the finish. Some of the newer apartments have v small footprints compared with the older blocks- the bedrooms in particular are tiny once you add storage in.

Up to HK$60,000 which I know probably isn't much when it comes to HK properties.

Yeah I know what you mean - the newer blocks in places like Lohas Park seem to definitely be more of a cage than some of the older blocks.

I suppose most people living on the South Island has a car / use a bus given the lack of MTR.

Yes- where there's no MTR near by people use buses & taxis or drive, or bus/taxi to the MTR. I actually used the MTR much less than I expected to. The main MTR black spots are the south of HK island and then Sai Kung/ Clearwater Bay. Kowloon is v well served.

Where will you/DH need to get to for work, and do you have schools sorted yet, as may be some areas you haven't thought of - e.g. if working in central, places like Tung Chung or the islands are an option? Also have you looked at South Horizons on Ap Lei Chau- that's on the MTR extension.
