admission process in Singapore schools: Tanglin Trust School

I have seen a few threads re international/British schools in Singapore, but I don't think there was anything recent. We are relocating in a few months, and I have applied to TTS. My children are currently in y6 and y9 and will be in y7 and y10 respectively in 2024-25. Has anyone gone through the application process for older children (Middle/High school)? It seems a bit less transparent compared to, say, 11+ in the UK. After completing both applications, admission officers started contacting me with dates of assessment for the y9 child. So far, he has sat a combination of vocabulary+quantitative-NVR test, then another verbal/reading/writing test. I wonder if each child gets assessed individually based on their reports or if there is any predictable timeline. The admission officers don't really outline it. My y6 daughter has just been invited to sit a CAT4 test, but they may accept her recent results from the UK. I would appreciate any feedback. Many thanks!

Have they indicated if they have space in those years? International schools will often assess just to waitlist which can be frustrating.

No, that’s what I find frustrating given the application fees and the amount of time and energy it takes to go through the process.

International schools have children joining annd leaving all the way through and most are through schools so there is no big Year 7 influx. Typically they assess anyone as and when they apply but that doesn’t mean they have spaces. I would therefore not confine your search to one school. There are a few expat FB pages- called something like Brit mums in Sing or Sing expat wives ( yeah I know). They may have useful intel on which years are on waiting list.

I would also directly ask admissions about the length of the waiting list for the years you are looking at. They may be cagey but may at least give an indication about whether you’re being assessed for a place or for the waitlist.

problem is that during covid loads of people moved from HK to Singapore and that has filled up the Singapore international schools.
