Moving to Glasgow region

Hello, I’m looking for some advice. We are considering a potential move to Glasgow/West Coast of Ayrshire region. Our potential jobs are South/South-West Glasgow. We have a toddler. We are looking for somewhere not too busy but with facilities/schools etc ideally near the coast with good access to countryside. Just wondering how easy it would be to settle in up there and have a good quality of life. Currently we’re starting to feel priced out of where we live in Southern England. I would love to find a smallish town/suburb where I could walk to school with nice outdoor spaces.

You might want to get this moved to Scotsnet topic. Glasgow not really overseas 😂

When you say South west Glasgow but also by the coast and countryside. Are you thinking Ayrshire? Paisley? Where is work exactly? Some parts are easier to commute from and schools are quite variable.

Thank you! Good suggestion have added to Scots net, new to MN! Job near Newton Mearns, willing to commute 30-40 mins for a nice coastal village

Newton Mearns is nowhere near the coast. However it has some of the best state schools in Scotland (East Renfrewshire) good housing, easy access to countryside and parks and, if you choose the right area, easy train access to Glasgow.

Ayrshire schools nowhere near as good. Frankly, if you're moving from South East , newton mearns, Whitecraigs, Clarkston etc less of a culture shock. Troon Ayrshire is lovely but a trek for commute and you'd need to check out schools
