I know that it's summer for us, but the opposite for you, but what do you think likely temperatures will be for us when we come next year, at the end of July/early August?

I need to know for our packing!

last july was bl**dy freezing at night in bris eidsvold... seem to remember it got down to -5? at night. however we were still the only mad people in the sea and were asked if we were pomes? ummmmmmmm. did need wet suits to brave it tho.
Sydney can be pretty miserable in july august but when DH first came over in july he lived in shorts and t shirts for teh whole 3 weeks in july.
Not this year he has found the wooly socks allready!

Syd can be anything from about 2 (or less) up to 22!
Layers are the key.

We arrived in Sydney on 29th June last year - it was the coldest Winter night here in yonks! Went straight to a holiday rental with tiled floors and NO HEATING which, considering we had just spent a month in Thailand/Singapore wasn't good!

Layers are definitely the key and think about walking along the beautiful beaches rather than swimming.

If you are not staying in a hotel, do think about the heating. Lots of people we know here say that they have never been colder - not because of the temperatures but many Sydney homes really don't have any heating. If you are staying in holiday accommodation ask the question before you arrive
