Can you be a little more specific as to location of "Former Colonies"?
Not being nosy, but it helps to answer the question...I'm good at Mauritius, not much else.

suzywong · 27/02/2008 14:18

'Shtraaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyylya to be precise

White Company seem to deliver overseas ("at cost")

B*den do (£12 delivery)

White Stuff do (£12 delivery)

John Lewis says to contact their Oxford St branch about international delivery, if you're feeling really motivated.

Fat Face do: Rest of the World: £12.00 for the first item, £3.00 for each subsequent item, up to a maximum £30.00.

DS is nagging to go outside, I can't concentrate any more, but HTH

Bubbaluv · 27/02/2008 16:13

Which stores do you miss?

suzywong · 28/02/2008 04:57

bump bump for the arvo crowd

OP posts:
eidsvold · 28/02/2008 06:16

no idea - happy with my boutique brands PMSL as if.

mymama · 28/02/2008 06:36

suzywong you are in Perth aren't you? Why don't you try some East Australian companies. We might have some that you don't.

Loved Next in the UK. Do they deliver to Aus?

MrsJohnCusack · 28/02/2008 07:09

I miss all of them too suzy
adopt a friendly mumsnetter and get them to to send stuff maybe

what were your favourite shops in BLighty then?

eidsvold · 28/02/2008 11:26

however I love it when fab mil sends gorgeous next, m and s or h and m clothes for the girls. They are 'for good' clothes and they have lasted from dd1 to dd3 - well so far. Now that dd3 has grown out of some of them - can't bear to part with them.

Bubbaluv · 28/02/2008 14:32

You need to do a shopping trip to Melbourne and Sydney!

SSSandy2 · 29/02/2008 09:01

which shops did you like in the UK then suzy? Can you think of any in particular that generally worked for you? I think I'd just check out their websites/send a mail and ask.

My sister in Oz likes Monsoon for her and her brood,so she checks out their site and tells me what she wants and I try and get a bunch of stuff and send it to her when I'm in the UK. Maybe she could just do it all online though, never occurred to me. Will investigate.

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 09:06

my mate in sydeny sasy the same - no gap for eg.
what do australians wear then?
they arent all badly dressed suerely?
hwo do they cope? rl mate says that they are all very disposable ( cos of the heat i think) and dont last

eidsvold · 29/02/2008 09:28

COD -

target, myer, colorado, katies, suzanne grae, rockmans, some bigW and KMart depending on what it is.

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 09:44

target?
isnt that like asda?

AuldAlliance · 29/02/2008 11:06

I checked Monsoon and Next, along with loads of others, and they don't deliver abroad. I only gave a list of positives, not ones that don't, which wasn't v helpful maybe.
Perhaps we need to lobby companies for them to start, if there's a potential market...?

Bubbaluv · 29/02/2008 11:56

What about Country Road or Witchery or Cue? Better than Next, Monsoon etc IMHO. I would miss Zara in Aus I have to say.
Target is a bit more upmarket (just a bit) than ASDA and generally is v good quality. Why do you want chain-store clothes so much? I find that the worst bit of shopping in the UK.

mymama · 29/02/2008 14:23

Colorado, Portmans, Sportsgirl, Cue, Myer, David Jones.

What about surf clothing stores such as City Beach, Billabong, Mambo.

Target is great for everyday stuff. Good quality but agree something a bit nicer for dressy.

I bought a lot of clothes from Next and they are not better quality than Target imo.

motherinferior · 29/02/2008 14:25

Is it not cheaper to get a friendly soul living in say SarfEast Lunnon to dispatch things to you directly?

suzywong · 29/02/2008 14:35

yes I like a bit of Target

Nuzzzle to MI, answer will be on a postcard xxx

OP posts:
eidsvold · 01/03/2008 09:53

target is fab for everyday stuff.

MrsJohnCusack · 01/03/2008 10:10

Sussan?

eidsvold · 01/03/2008 10:18

I haven't looked at Sussan as there isn't one near me although I think one might have moved into the huge extension at one of our local westfields.

are they good mrs JC??

MrsJohnCusack · 01/03/2008 10:23

well they can be
have got some nice things from there which is exciting as I've had trouble getting anything I like since I moved here, just haven't worked out the shops and don't know where I 'belong' (plus I suppose I've been pregnant/post natal bulgy for most of the time)

but they seem to have a quite definite 'style' and if that's not your bag then I'm not sure you'd find anything at all. v.good knitwear, basics, some nice swingy JackieO-ish jackets

apart from the lovely pyjamas/nightwear

MrsJohnCusack · 01/03/2008 10:24

that makes NO sense
I meant, the pyjamas etc. are lovely even if the rest of the shop isn't to your taste

it's definitely worth a look. mid priced (at least is here in NZ)
